After a brief pause, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies resumed their attack on ISIS in al-Safa north of the governorate of al-Suwayda and advanced 5km in the heart of the heavily fortified area, a military source told SouthFront on November 16.
According to the source, the SAA didn’t lose any personnel during its advance in al-Safa as ISIS fighters began to “run way” leaving their belongings and weapons behind.
Syrian pro-government sources, including al-Masdar News and Muraselon, confirmed that the SAA made significant advance in al-Safa and reported that the army artillery destroyed many positions and fortifications of the terrorist groups in the area.
Bad weather conditions forced the SAA and its allies to pause their attack in al-Safa between November 13 and 15. Many local observers predicted that the weather will hinder the army’s advance. However, it apparently also had an impact on the remaining terrorist group’s fighters.

Why would Russia-Syria-Iran ever attack their own mercenaries? Last week it was too cloudy, next week it will be too sunny. Then it will be either too warm or more likely too cold. Just think of the bill if all those Russians break a sweat in their uniforms. Don’t even ask me what it will cost if they use their cold weather gear. The weather in this al Safa 10 year war is worse than WWII, the mud, the sand… how can anyone expect to fight with sand under their fingernails? Those Russians just have to take next week off for mani-pedis.
Putin’s military is so impotent they cannot even defeat a couple hundred fighters surrounded on a little spit of land for a year. How funny is that?
You fool. Putin’s military stopped the Western world from destroying Syria’s sovereignty with limited resources.
Cut off their supply lines first, come in behind them and place a barrier of light armor between Al-Tanf and this position, that’ll starve them out as well as stop ammo resupply and reinforcements from getting through to them.
