On August 25, a rocket attack targeted a large Turkish military base located near the town of Zaylkan in Bashiqa district in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.
Initially, it was reported that a salvo of nine 107 mm rockets targeted the Turkish base. However, official Iraqi sources revealed later that the base was hit with more than 30 rockets. The rockets were launched from a covert, improvised multiple launcher that was parked between the towns of Fadelah and Kanunah in Bashiqa. A 4G internet router and a small WIFI cameral were found near the launcher.
The Sabreen news channel on Telegram claimed that four Turkish service members were killed as a result of the rocket attack. These claims are yet to be confirmed by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which was likely carried out in response to recent Turkish strikes on northern Iraq.
In July, Kurdish guerilla groups and pro-Iranian forces escalated their attacks on Turkish bases in northern Iraq following a series of Turkish strikes that targeted resorts in Zakho district in the province of Duhok. The strikes claimed the lives of nine civilians, including a one-year-old child.
The Turkish military has been counducting a large-scale operation, codenamed Claw-Lock, against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in northern Iraq since mid-April. Despite facing political pressure from the Iraqi government and losing more than 40 soldiers, Ankara is still determined to go on with its operation.

Get a DEAL with Turkey, thrwo the Kurds under the bus.
“The Kurds”. Whom do you mean? The vast majority of Kurds in Turkey are not with the PKK. The biggest 2 factions in Northern Iraq cooperate with Turkey. The US supported YPG needs to make a choice, whether they want to be part of a future Syria or not. If they count on continued US support, they’re throwing themselves under the bus. Their supposedly ‘inclusive, democratic’ system in Northern Syria has turned out to be not so. I hope they’ll realise they’re doing neither themselves nor the peoples of the region a favour.
The sane world just loves burned turkeys almost as much as angloZionaZi buZZards themselves!
