Dozens Of Syrian And Russian Airstrikes Hit Militants In Khan Shaykhun (Videos)

Support SouthFront

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the Russian Aerospace Forces are conducting an intense bombing campaign on militants’ positions in the strategic town of Khan Shaykhun in southern Idlib.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on July 20 that dozens of Syrian and Russian airstrikes targeted the town and several areas in its vicinity over the last 48 hours.

Syrian opposition sources said that the town is also being shelled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). Heavy rockets were reportedly used in the shelling.

Khan Shaykhun is located on the M5 highway, which links the Syrian capital, Damascus, with Aleppo. The town is one of Hya’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) main strongholds in Greater Idlib.

The intense strikes on Khan Shaykhun indicate that the SAA may be planning to launch a military operation to capture the town. Such a move would deal a major blow to HTS and other terrorist groups in Greater Idlib.

You obviously don’t know how to read maps.

The content of your comment is very sad and unfortunate but sadly I have to acknowledge and admit that you can be quite right, taking into account the powerful and effective Russian war machine when they want to use it. And on the other hand, sometimes I even think about whether the military stalemate in Idib would not have to do with that excess of friendship between Russia and the worst enemies of Syria, speaking of Israel and Turkey, my friend. Hopefully we are both wrong about our reasoning my friend, however objective we may be. Hopefully….

Get you grip you fucking moron.

Your above posting demonstrate your inability to think logically. Idlib is occupied, not by bacon but by turkey as you know. Syria would be attacked by the turds if they approach them. But in time, idlib will be reclaimed by Syria. You know this but keep plugging your false narrative.

almasda News 20.07.2019 Home Middle East Syria’s S-300 system, Russian drones no threat to Israel: media

BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 P.M.) – The Russian is using the progress made by Israel for its own drone production, the publication Svobodnaya Pressa reported this week. According to the Russian publication, due to the military cooperation between Israel and Russia, the latter’s drones and even their S-300 missile system are no threat to the Jewish state.

Last year there was an incident where Israel’s aerial defense shot down a Russian-made drone over the Golan Heights. An analysis of the fragments showed that the drone was completely identical to a model used by the Israeli Air Force. “The only difference was that our apparatus had inscriptions in Cyrillic,” the Russian news outlet observes. “In the end, after two years the Russian army obtained the Forpost. One could say that it was the first effective Russian UAV, if it weren’t an exact copy of the Israeli Searcher II. Moreover, even all of the components were imported from the Jewish state,” the author writes, inferring that this poses a threat to Russia. “And this is bad, if you take into account the fact that in the Syrian airspace between Russia and Israel there are many unresolved issues. The IDF regularly flies sorties and attacks our allies… And Iran, which is constantly losing its facilities, is already starting to look askance at the Kremlin. All of this impedes Moscow, and it is in the interests of Russia’s leaders to use all available resources to restrict the Israeli Air Force in the sky over Syria. It is clear that Israeli technologies won’t help here. The problem is that the specialists from Israel Aerospace Industries have studied the Forposts inside and out,” the article remarks. The article concludes that, if necessary, “Israel could easily disable the Russian drones and bypass the S-300”.

Svobodnaya pressa is a typical ruzionic media outlet – working for same forces as you do.

To all the naysayers regarding the Syrian Arab Army, Syrian Arab Air Force, as being a third rate force, after a few breaches by terrorists recently along the contact line, which were quickly reversed by the Syrian Arab Army in south Idlib.

The SAA is a well rounded, seasoned force, capable of major accomplishments, we just have to give these battles time to play out. They are known in military jargon as ‘ battle pulses ‘ . Another tactic the Tiger Forces of the SAA like to deploy is to feign an attack, to draw forwards militants from their hunkered down positions. Then they draw back, which is quickly proceeded by an offensive move by the militants. Then artillery, air strikes reduce the ranks and armor of the militants.

The Russian Aerospace forces and on the ground military battlefield advisors have played a remarkable, and lauded job in helping Syria win this fight against an international conspiracy hatched on her. The Chinese have been silently assisting Syria in many ways.

But guys, the Syrian Arab Army is a distilled down hardcore force, with reserves and new troops , trained by Russian Spetznaz, Russian armored tactics of units into offensive fists, whereupon breaking the enemies defensive lines, experts, and nobody knows ground warfare like the Russians do. Just one look at WW2 tells quite a story.

The SAA will get Idlib back soon, it will create pockets of resistance and surround them. Just like they did in Douma, in 2018. That’s right, break the enemy down into chewable pieces.

When Bashar Al- Assad said the SAA will return all of Syria back together, the Syrians mean it. The Arab tribes, who are an ace card up the sleeve of the Damascus government, the Druze meant it, the Assyrians mean it, its people, millions upon millions of Syrians meant it.

So the Kurds will have to go back to where they came from, U.S., British and French bases in Syria could come under attack in a popular peoples insurgency, like we saw in Iraq, post 2006. The one the effectively bogged down 14 out of the U.S. Army’s total of 16 battalions in a lethal, vicious and intense urban warfare, desert warfare insurgency launched by Iraq’s Arab tribes. I mean, if push came to shove, to get things rolling, Syrian military intelligence would logically arm the tribes, the NDF/ National Defense Forces, who have excellent combat experience, 8 years I should say, would simply shed their military uniforms and blend in with the environment and launch crippling attacks.

Well said!

You missed one determinate factor: you can not win when the people living there do not want you. And in North -east Syria their are living mainly Kurds. Remember Vietnam etc, a Guerrilla against the natives is not to win look at Turkey, each Turk stays a target in south-east Turkey.

In Northeastern Syria the majority of the population are Arabs, who are suppressed by the SDF ethnic cleaning force.

You are mis-informed :Kurds mostly live in a geocultural region in Northern Syria. This region covers the governorate of Al Hasakah (formerly the Jazira province), a region also inhabited by many Arabs, Assyrians, Armenians and Chechens. The main cities in this region are Qamishli and Al-Hasakah. It also convers most of the northern part of Aleppo governornate. There is a big Kurdish population in the Kurd Dagh (Kurd mountains) area, located in the northwestern part of Aleppo governorate. This region extends both ethnically and culturally to the Turkish regions of Kilis, Islahiye and Kirikhan. The region of Kobanê (Ayn al-Arab), located in the eastern part of the Aleppo governorate, also has a significant Kurdish population, perhaps best known for resisting the long siege by ISIS. The northern countryside of Aleppo governorate, alternatively known as Şehba, also has a significant Kurdish population. Kurds mainly live in the rural countryside. The main towns are Manbij, Al-Bab and Azaz, while also containing important smaller towns such as Qabasin, Al-Ra’i and Jarabulus.

Syrian policies in the 1970s led to Arabs resettling in majority Kurdish areas.[68] In 1965, the Syrian government decided to create an Arab cordon (Hizam Arabi) in the Jazira region along the Turkish border. The cordon was along the Turkish-Syrian border and 10–15 kilometers wide,[69] stretched from the Iraqi border in the east to Ras Al-Ain in the west. The implementation of the Arab cordon plan began in 1973 and Bedouin Arabs were brought in and resettled in Kurdish areas. The toponymy of the area such as village names were Arabized. According to the original plan, some 140,000 Kurds had to be deported to the southern desert near Al-Raad. Although Kurdish farmers were dispossessed of their lands, they refused to move and give up their houses. Among these Kurdish villagers, those who were designated as alien were not allowed to own property, to repair a crumbling house or to build a new one.[70] In 1976 the further implementation of the arabization policy along the Turkish border was officially dropped by Hafez al Assad. The achieved demographic changes were not reverted though.[69]

So Syria is doing what Erdogan promised to do, why is he always repeating his wrong- doing and even more problematic : why is nobody stopping that dictator?
