These are a problem on both sides. It’s problematic that our wicked leaders let these be supplied and flood across western borders. It’s going to take designers some time to improve the safety in tanks.
In the meantime tank crews experiment with potential solutions such as the turret cages. I wonder if surrounding the tank by very thick steel cable mesh followed by thick plywood, empty space, and then the reactive armor and standard tank hull would do much.
That being said, tank losses with these munitions floating around in abundance are going to happen frequently. For these sort of urban and trench warfare situations (where there is little tank to tank combat), I think the difference between a modern tank and older tanks upgraded with improvements to armor, is going to be very little. Older tanks could be upgraded to the role of small capacity infantry carrying vehicles.
