The seventh day of the peace enforcement operation in Ukraine started with the further developments of Russian offensive operations in the north, east and south of the country.
Russian forces have been reportedly finishing the operation to encircle Nikolaev city. Mi-28 attack helicopters were spotted moving to support this advance.

Meanwhile, units of the Donetsk People’s Republics supported by the Russian military have been finalizing preparations for the offensive to take control of Mariupol city.
DPR sources also reported a fierce attack of the Ukrainian military on the city of Gorlovka. Four Kiev soldiers were killed and three others were injured, according to DPR. DPR forces also suffered casualties. The city remains in the hands of DPR. The attack on Gorlovka was likely an attempt to draw attention of the advancing DPR troops from Mariupol. In the previous days, the Ukrainian Army was actively shelling Gorlovka residential areas. Most likely, Kiev units wanted to spend their munitions before the withdrawal from the nearby positions.

As of March 2, the Russian Defense Ministry says that a total of 1,502 Ukrainian military infrastructure facilities were put out of action. Among them: 51 command posts and communication centers of the Ukrainian armed forces, 38 S-300, Buk M-1 and Osa anti-aircraft missile systems, 51 radar stations.
The defense ministry added that Russian forces destroyed 47 aircraft on the ground and 11 aircraft in the air, 472 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 62 multiple rocket launchers, 206 field artillery pieces and mortars, 336 units of special military vehicles, 46 unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Russian military added that in order to suppress information attacks against Russia, the technological facilities of the Security Service of Ukraine and the 72nd Main Center for Psychological Operations were hit with high-precision weapons in the city of Kyiv. The hardware broadcasting of the TV tower was disabled.
Also, the forces of the operational-tactical and army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces delivered a massive air strike on the military infrastructure of Ukraine. 67 objects were hit.

The Russian side also officially confirmed the control of the city of Kherson. Units of the Ukrainian Army in Tokmak and Vasilievka reportedly surrendered to the advancing forces.

The Gostomel airport is under russian control. The paratroopers have received reinforcements and now the entire area is under control. The russian military is putting up more and more checkpoint on the Gostomel highway.

Needless to say there was zero evidence of that, or of it being retaken, and the airport remained in Russian hands. Apart from location close to Kiev, the significance of this airport is, it was a major UAF logistics transit hub, and Ukrainian air force/ Antonov aviation corp aviation development and special testing facility.

I certainly hope god speed for the Russian/DPR/LPR forces and that this operation is quickly settled and then the rebuilding can begin. There is already resistance, in particular by the nazis. They are hidden into urban areas, using civilians as human shields. However the russian army is accustomed to sieges, encircling and mopping up operations. They could use heavy artillery but kill a lot of civilians. Or they could save civilians by sending in the chechens ( very experienced at urban warfare and totally ruthless ), but at the cost of much blood.
I hope they will reserve the good treatment for filo-russian areas, while going with heavy weaponry in eurorats-friendly zones.
Re-watching vids of last days and more noticing that alongside Russian tanks and wheeled vehicles are quite a lot of 2S9 Nona armored 120mm mortars, and 2S4 Tyulpan 240 mm armored mortars. These are really effective for urban fighting. The 240mm is largest tracked portable mortar in military operation and is truly devastating. The Russians know from Grozny it can level concrete tower blocks. So their infantry have mobile artillery support that can dislodge fortified resistance. But they aren’t using it yet, it is there if needed, but its serious leveling power is being handled carefully. The Russians don’t want to destroy infrastructure unless they have to, but if and when concentrated Asov resistance is located the 240mm is ready in waiting.
