Drone Attack Leaves Key Ukrainian Port With Heavy Damage (Videos)

Early on September 7, an attack with suicide drones targeted the key port of Izmail in the southern Ukrainian region of Odessa.

The region’s governor, Oleh Kiper, said that the attack was carried out by the Russian military, adding that port infrastructure, a grain silo and administrative buildings were damaged.

“Port infrastructure … has been damaged in several settlements,” Kiper wrote on his Telegram channel. “efforts are being made to repair damages.”

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that its air defenses had shot down 25 out of the 33 Geran-1 and 2 drones which were launched by Russia. Most were aimed at the Odessa region but some also targeted the northern region of Sumy, it added.

Video footage from Izmail showed Ukrainian air defense fire over the port city as well as a series of blasts and fires on the ground.

Russia stepped up drone and missile strikes on Odessa in recent weeks in response to Ukrainian attacks on its territory. Just a day earlier, the Russian Aerospace Force carried out a strike with high-precision weapons against a training base of Ukraine’s sabotage groups in Izmail.

Following the last attack on Odessa, several drone attacks targeted Russian territory. In the early morninghours, the Russian Ministry of Defense reproted that two suicide drones were shot down over the Moscow region and a third was intercepted over the Rostov region.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin didn’t report any casualties or material losses after the failed drone attack on the region. However, Rostov governor Vasily Golubev said that three buildings and several cars were damaged after the wreckage of the downed drone fell in the city center of Rostov-on-Don.

“According to the updated information about consequences in central Rostov: facades of three buildings were damaged, their windows were broken, damage was done to several cars. One person sought medical assistance with incised wounds of his legs. He refused from hospitalization,” Golubev wrote on his Telegram channel.

Later in the morning, the Russian MoD announced tha two more Ukrianian suicide drones were shot down over the Bryansk region.

The region’s governor Alexander Bogomaz said on Telegram that the attack attempt didn’t result in any casualties or material losses.

The recent increase in attacks on Russian territory appears to be an attempt by the Kiev regime to make up for the failure of its counteroffensive.

Kiev forces launched the counteroffensive more than three months ago and despite sustaining heavy losses they are yet to break through Russian defenses in any direction. Ukraine’s Western backers, who provided more than 200 billions in military aid, do not seem to be pleased by these results.
