Newly released footage from the southern Zaporozhzhie region provides a stark and detailed look at the relentless targeting of logistics. The video, captured by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, shows a series of strikes on a Russian military train, specifically designed to transport vital fuel to the front lines. The recording underscores the tactical reality: Ukrainian drones can penetrate deep in the rear, threatening Russia’s military supply chains.

The footage is not just a record of destruction but a revealing study in military adaptation. The train’s composition is a carefully calculated defensive puzzle, a testament to the constant threat from above. At the very head of the convoy, an empty flatcar serves as a buffer. Its purpose is to detonate any mine or absorb the blast of an incoming projectile, sacrificing itself to protect the valuable locomotive immediately behind it.

What follows is one of the more grim aspects of the train’s design. Directly after the locomotive is another flatcar, a defensive one with armed Russian soldiers tasked with providing close-range air defense against the very drones now surveilling them. Behind this forward protective layer stretches a long sequence of empty freight cars, a calculated buffer zone intended to dissipate the energy of any blast that penetrates the initial defenses. Only after this extensive and elaborate defensive arrangement do the true prizes of the convoy appear: the fuel tankers. The drone’s-eye view captures the precise moment of impact, as one or more of these volatile targets is struck. A fierce orange fireball erupts, quickly engulfing the surrounding cars and sending thick, black smoke billowing into the sky.

i’m surprised trains would even be used close to the front anymore. seems like a big juicy target.

Fake

russia uses lots of trains for its army logistics. they have trucks too of course but trains are heavily relied on.

Rajesh

well everyone everywhere uses trains. but my point is that this close to the front, a train seems like a bad idea.

your use of the term ‘putler’ shows who is paying your bills. over a million dead ukrainians not enough for you? happy that you still get paid while the families of the one thousand dead soldiers russia just returned to you won’t get anything?

you must dumb polish or banderit whore (only them use world putler).

that such attacks are rare is a testament to the success of defensive measures. at stalingrad, apparently very short trains were often used; another option is for tanker cars to be full or empty at random. russian reliance on railways is a strong argument against it intending aggression, but not one mentioned by western commentators.
