On March 5, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) attacked two targets in in the southern Saudi province of ‘Aisr with suicide drones.
In the morning, the Houthis launched three Qasef-2K and Samad-3 drones at Abha International Airport and King Khalid Air Base. A few hours later, the Yemeni group launched five Qasef-2K drones at King Khalid Air Base.
The Samad-3 has a range of more than 1,500 km, while the range of the Qasef-2K is around 150 km only. Both drones are usually armed with high-explosive fragmentation, HE-FRAG, warheads.
Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthis, claimed in an official statement that the attacks on King Khalid Air Base and Abha International Aiport were successful.
“This attack came as a legitimate response to the aggression forces’ major aerial escalation and their comprehensive siege on our country,” the spokesman said.
The Saudi-led coalition claimed that its air-defense means had intercepted six drones over ‘Asir. This indicates that at least two drones hit their targets.
A day earlier, the Houthis targeted King Khalid Air Base with a suicide drone and a facility of Saudi oil giant Armco near the western city of Jeddah with a cruise missile. The coalition claimed that both attacks were foiled.
The Houthis’ recent strikes on Saudi Arabia, including Operation Deterrent Balance 5, are meant to pressure Riyadh into ending its war on Yemen. However, the Kingdom appears to be determined to go on with this costly war.

Pity there are no honest sources in side the KSA to assess the damage. Funny how the SOHR is able to report on everything that happens in Syria within hours but Saudi Arabia is a black hole. I wonder if these drones are GPS or video guided.
