Amid the ongoing shelling between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and militants in Greater Idlib, a new round of a drone war was launched in the region.

On August 1st, according to the photos released by RusVesna, militant’s home-made reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was shot down over the town of Kafr-Nabl in Idlib governorate. It was reportedly launched from the village of Al-Bara and was aimed at searching for targets and adjusting artillery fire.

The next day, on August 2nd, another drone was targeted with the Syrian Buk-M2E air defense system in the Al-Eis area in the southern countryside of Aleppo. The drone was most likely Turkish-made, and it may have been a TAI Anka, as they have been recently spotted flying over Greater Idlib.

The response came fast. Early on August 3rd, a Russian-made Forpost UAV was shot down near the town of Kafr Nuran, Aleppo governorate.

A few minutes before the UAV was shot down,  a vehicle was struck with a precision-guided munition in the town of Kafr Nuran.

At the same time, the SAA and Turkish-backed factions continue artillery shelling in both Idlib and Aleppo governorates.

Government forces reportedly shelled the villages of Kafr Amma, Teqad, and Kfar Ta’al, west of Aleppo. A day before, the towns of al-Fatira and Sufuhun in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, were reportedly targeted.

The shelling may be a response to the recent escalation by Greater Idlib militants that was allegedly aimed at support of Daraa’s former rebels.

Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and its allies, who operate under the banner of the al-Fateh al-Mubeen Operations Room, have recently shelled government-held areas in southern Idlib, northern Lattakia, northwestern Hama and western Aleppo.

Its way past time the SAA and Russia brought an end to this nonsense in Idlib.

Peter Wallace

They should have done that before the ceasefire was imposed. Now Turkey has massively increased its manpower and military equipment so now it will be a bloodbath and a cost that maybe Assad can’t afford . Turkish drones were directing artillary and rockets to SAA tanks and equipment which resulted in heavy losses plus manpower. Now it will be much worse . HTS and the others have had time to re organise and resupply and rebuild. .

block

“Assad can’t afford” Guess which Syrian allies can afford to exterminate ALL foreign trash from their territory?

Paid clown from the west.

Afford means loss of manpower which would or could weaken his hold on the territory he now holds which puts that territory at risk of a reinvigorated terrorists push to take control backed by the US?UK? Israel. he does not have an inexhaustible supply of manpower. The cost of retaking Idlib now exceeds the value in doing so at this stage.

block

Nice try. Now it is about manpower? Perhaps you forgot the various militias throughout the entire region willing to fight to free Syria of all foreign extremist trash.

Peter Wallace

Of course manpower is a cost. It is always a cost. Without sufficient manpower you can not achieve victory or control. Have you any idea of war or are you just full of buffoonery shit Blockhead suits you .

Phoron

Yes it is very likely that trying to liberate Idlib from the Turks would be more difficult now, than in early 2020.

Cromwell

Before the stupid ceasefire the SAA were on a roll, with Russian air support they could have liberated Idlib.

Furkan

If Erdogan is finished as President of Turkey SAA had captured Idlib

Remember we are not privy to all the information on the ground and in real time. The SAA & allies would not simply throw away an advantage as a result of ignorance.

Trap is still Gay and 100% proud

Not doing it soon means it will never be done. The longer the wait the stronger the pain.

Cromwell

Correct, its cost lives and now the Turks and their terror friends are well dug in,they will have to be blasted burned and bombed out.

Radrider

One day, the russ will help the turk into understanding idlib is not worth it.

Icarus Tanović

We will have to finish it. It is either us or them.

The Objective

It’s unlikely that a Turkish drone was shot down. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights would have announced such news.
