On November 4, the Ministry of Interior of Egypt announced that the Egyptian Special Forces had eliminated the terrorist cells responsible for the attack on civilian Copts near the central city of Minya, which occurred two days ago.
Security forces were able to locate the cell’s hideout in a desert west of Minya after receiving accurate information from the National Security Agency. Later, Egyptian security forces attacked the hideout and manged to eliminate all the members of the cell.
“The clashes resulted in the death of 19 terrorist elements, work to identify them is underway,” the Egyptian ministry of interior said in an official statement published on its Facebook page.
According to the ministry’s statement, several assault rifles, shotguns, pistols and food supplies were found in the terrorist cell hideout.
More than 19 civilians were killed and injured in the attack, which was condemned by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. However, several Egyptian observers said that elements of the banned Muslim Brotherhood party may have assisted the terrorist group.
