It is reported that the Taliban militants ambushed and killed a police commander and seven other people, including three women, in Afghanistan on Thursday.
Takhar Province police spokesman Khalil Aseer said that a highway police commander in the northern provinces of Takhar and Kunduz, was killed in a Taliban ambush along with four of his guards on his way to work.
In last year alone, more than 5,500 members of the Afghan security forces were killed and 14,000 were wounded.
