Erdogan: Mosul and Aleppo Belong to Turks (Video)

Support SouthFront

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that the Syrian city of Aleppo and the Iraqi city of Mosul belong to Turks, speaking during an opening ceremony for an educational institution in Bursa on October 23.

Erdogan compared the way that Syrians and Iraqis have been driven away from homes because of the self-proclaimed Islamic State, to how Turkish people were once forced out from their cities

? He didn’t say Mosul and Aleppo belong to Turks???

gfsdyughjgd .

Erdogan has air lift ISIS terrorist to Kirkuk in Iraq.USA does not give air support to Iragi army.Moderate Free Syrian army is robing civilians from food distribution. What their are doing is just the same as the refugees does in Germany,France, swden and in other European countries.Raping, staling, robing beating kids and European citizens.

Barbarossa296

I’ve not been able to get a translation of his speech. From the synopsis on the YouTube channel, he appears to have said that the Turks were driven out of both cities.

Ted

I do not think we need to figure out what he is saying, we can see by his actions what Turkey believes. I think they will continue South. As far South as is possible. If they could they would go all the way to the Jordanian border.

Ronald

I believe you are right , I thought he just wanted the oil producing territory that ISIS presently occupies , it is easy to get used to big cash on the side. Laying claim to Aleppo AND Mosul is a big step beyond that. Delusions of grandeur , or doing the bidding of the US and Israel ? On the bright side , at the moment the Americans have stated he is acting “outside” of the coalition in Iraq . So that might be the area to initiate a push back by Iraqi troops et al.. Then it will be seen if the US backs him as a” NATO” member , or he is playing his own game. Just want to thank Percival for the photo , still has me smiling .

Ted

I see it as Turkey taking on its own role. The US is not in the game. Turkey broke from the west after the coupe. He spent the past four years targeting domestic enemies and probably finished them all after the failed coup. I see this as pretty black and white. Turkey will have backing of Suni’s in Iraq although weak, KSA and the gulf states. Turkey leading them against Iran and the Shia. Once ISIS is out of the picture in Iraq, I would think that Iraq will make a lot more noise about Turkish occupation.

Ronald

The US always stays in the game , just quietly . They will let Erdogan take Mosul , as you say it is Sunni , he then has oil revenue to feed his army. Armies have a voracious appetite , He will need backing form the Saudi’ Sunni’s (really the US) , then on to Iran. He really wants the new Ottoman empire. He’s a motivated player , theYanks just watch and prod . The US and Israel really want to destroy Iran, they are too educated , too ethical and honest , too inclined to tell the world what Israel and America are doing in that part of the world .

The turkish Empire, but not turks.

By the time this is done, Turkey will relinquish the Greek Islands and Straits, including Cyprus, the Syrian province of Hatay, occupied Armenian territory and Kurdistan. This will result in “Turkey” being about one third the size they think it is today.

Fifth Sertorius

haha, well done!

Percival

Turkey might violate Syrian airspace and attack SAA and its allies at the behest of NATO. Russia or Syria will respond by downing a Turkish jet and the neocons will try to invoke Article 15. This could be the planned provocation they are looking for. Erdoscum is overplaying his hand. Turkey’s military has been weakened by the purges and they are overextended on multiple fronts. The Kurds could wreak havoc behind the supply lines and inside Turkey. You can’t trust Erdoscum.

Barbarossa296

It took the Red Army several years and suffered massive defeats at the hands of the Wehrmacht before it could recover from Stalin’s purge of its ranks in the 1930’s.

888mladen .

Casualties have never been an issue with Russian military brass. What’s 30 million soldiers killed in action for such a great nation?

888mladen .

“neocons will try to invoke Article 15” Legally they would not be able to because SAA would have been acting in self defense. Article 15 could have been invoke only in case of aggression against Turkey as a NATO member on its territory by nonmember country. That doesn’t mean they would not try to as you said. However they would have no legal stand.

Percival

I agree. They have no legal ground to stand on, but it has not stopped them before and the MSM will jump on board. I think the people will resist any open conflict with Russia, though. Americans are voting for Trump because he is against more intervention. He tore apart the Bush legacy in the primaries and is outspoken against Iraq. He will reduce tensions. Hillary will have no mandate as Trump’s voters will never support her efforts to go to war with Russia.

malresser

wrong translation missleading title ,he says “in the past” he does not refer today or future

Ted

I would say its not the past if it was from yesterday, which is pretty current. One brings up the past for its relevance to the current situation. Erdogon did not bring this up as a light history lesson, he said it for a reason. He draws on the past so that today his ambitions are justified In the historical context. Think how Putin speaks of Crimea? Of course Putin did so after it was firmly in Russias control. I just do not see this as anything other then a land grab.

888mladen .

At least Putin had a mandate from over 80% of Crimean population which was ordered by Jesuit coadjutor St Joseph Biden that they must stop speaking in their mother tang which is of cause Russian. Does that sound like a land grab to you or perhaps ethnic cleansing? How widely is Turkish language spoken in Mosul and Aleppo? Maybe you are right it has been by Turkish soldiers since the invasion.

Ted

I think you have the wrong idea of what I wrote. I am not comparing Crimea to Aleppo. Not in that sense. Only in the sense that Putin Speaks of Crimea in a historical text of it being part of Russia. Which it has always been. He clearly speaks this way to imply that Crimea is Russia. I see Erdogan trying to do a bit of the same. While he does not state Turkey will take Aleppo nor that Aleppo is Turkey, him saying it traditionally was Turkish while his troops bear down on it, is an effort to imply historical links that the area in question is Turkish in some way. I also have no idea what language is spoken in Aleppo? I would assume Arabic? Today, but in a few months it could be Turkish? While this story is not about Crimea, I will happily say that I am one American who supports autonomy for Eastern Ukraine, Crimea has always been Russia, hell I wish you guys had just pushed to the Dnipro and incorporated everything east of, Let the e.u have Kiev and its Nazi’s ! But thats another story.

888mladen .

Did you hear that Mr Putin or you couldn’t care the less as long as you dream your sweet wet dream of gas pipeline together with Muller and Sechin ? There is a lot of political prostitution going around in the Middle East. Prostitution has never been a good thing Mr Putin. I do understand that Kurdish adventurism had to be contained but still I would love to know how Turkey’s intervention in Northern Syria approved by Russia has helped Syria maintain its territorial integrity? Has that ever been on your priority list?Sorry for saying that. I didn’t know that you have been a chess master without a pair in the world. However the Bible tells me I must not worship idols.

888mladen .

And Balkans too.
