Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he will open border crossing points for refugees, if the EU keeps its unfriendly policy in relation to his country. The reason for this statement was a resolution on termination of negotiations with Turkey on its accession to the EU, which was adopted by the European Parliament on November 24.

“A step was taken: should Turkey enter the EU or not? Thirty-forty people gathered and said ‘no’. You have never behaved properly and honestly in relation to humanity. We host 3 million refugees, and you start to groan, when 50,000 people try to get to you,” the RIA Novosti news agency quoted the words of the Turkish leader.

Meanwhile, commenting on the call of the European Parliament to suspend the negotiations on Turkey’s accession to the EU, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the EU pressure on Turkey does not make sense.

“Attempts to exert pressure on Turkey with such methods are meaningless,” Cavusoglu noted.

He also added that the EU has been using a policy of double standards against Ankara already for a long time and called for a review of these methods.

Turkey aspires to join the EU since 1992, however, negotiations on Ankara’s accession to the alliance are constantly tightened. In 2016, the Turkish authorities gave their consent for organization of a network of shelters for refugees in order to prevent their entry on the territory of the EU. In exchange, the European countries promised to finance these shelters and resume negotiations on the introduction of the visa-free regime for Turkey. In its turn, the EU leadership also made demands, some of which Ankara has refused to fulfill. In particular, Brussels demanded to revise a number of Turkish laws, which do not correspond to European values. As a result, the negotiations once again deadlocked.

Greece should be given those funds to feed and house the refugees not Turkey . At least they will not freeze to death there . A Sunni Islamic nation that has openly supported the Wahhabi “rebels” in Syria , has NO BUSINESS in the EU . Europeans need to educate themselves about Islam . There are four branches , each is different
