Few hours into the new ceasefire, militants stationed in Greater Idlib launched at least five rockets at the town of al-Qardahah and several villages surrounding it in Lattakia’s countryside.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said the rockets were launched from Shashabo mount in southwestern Idlib in the early hours of August 2. The militants’ rocket launcher was reportedly stationed right next to a Turkish observation post.
“Some rockets landed in the town of Bishalama, southeast of al-Qardahah city, resulting in the martyrdom of a citizen and the injury of three other civilians,” the agency’s reporter in Lattakia said.
There was no immediate claim for the attack. However, Shashabo mountain is known to be occupied by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.
Located 23km southeast of Lattakia’s city center, al-Qardahah is one of the governorate’s main urban centers and the hometown of the country’s President, Bashar al-Assad.
The rocket attack, which took place seven hours into the ceasefire, reflects the militants’ determination to sabotage any peaceful agreement. Local observers had predicted that the new ceasefire will fail within a few days, citing the failure of previous agreements.
Turkey help SAA but Assad and his allies don’t help SAA to liberate entire Syria. I don’t know what Assad wants from this chaos in Syria because chaos in Syria will badly compromise Syria Security.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels have launched a new attack on the Latakia Governorate city of Qardaha, a military source told Al-Masdar this morning. According to the source, the jihadist rebels fired several grad missiles towards Qardaha, with a few of them falling on the nearby town of Bishalama.
The source said at least one civilian has been killed as a result of this attack and three others have been hospitalized. Since midnight, Syrian and Russian military aircraft have been absent from the skies over northwestern Syria; this will likely change in the coming hours, as this is a violation of the ceasefire that was agreed upon.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:35 P.M.) – Syria’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Ja’afari, accused Turkey of mass deploying their troops inside of Syria during the Astana Peace Conference on Friday. During his speech at the peace conference, the veteran Syrian diplomat accused Turkey of deploying more than 10,000 soldiers and 166 tanks inside of northern Syria.
The Syrian diplomat highlighted the fact that the Turkish troops were acting as occupation force within a sovereign nation, adding that they were illegally inside of Syria. Turkey maintains that they’re conducting “anti-terror operations” in line with an agreement with Syria that was established in the late 1990s. Syria, on the other hand, says the agreement is null and void because Turkey broke off diplomatic relations in 2012. While both Syria and Turkey have acknowledged that they share some intelligence reports, both nations have refused to move towards diplomatic rapprochement.

Many people on this message boards are constantly unhappy about ceasefires commited by SAA. They should realise by now that this ceasefires do not harm SAA advance. Thing is that irregular armed forces of UK/US/Israel (alqueda=nusra and the rest of terrorist rats) violate this ceasfire agreements within couple of hours and free SAA to keep their operations going. It is a safe bet – SAA accepts ceasfire to show their good will than terrorist rats violate it and then it’s business as usual for SAA. But world is taking notice (remember – world is much more than anglo-zio empire) of who’s trying to promote peace and who’s promoting war.
