The Syrian army has repelled a series of militant offensive in the Aleppo’s Jamiat Al-Zahraa Neighborhood. Initially Al Nusra Front militants from the Jaish al-Fatah operation room were able to gain some ground in the area. But they were forced to retreat from there when all their advances failed.
The Syrian army has also repelled a large ISIS advance at the village of Nasrallah north of the Kweires Air Base located east of Aleppo city. The ISIS had attempted to use heavy clashes in southwestern Aleppo in order to gain ground from the Syrian government forces. However, the terrorist group failed to do this suffering some casualties. Local sources say that over 15 ISIS militants were killed while Syrian army lost up to 20 fighters.
Meanwhile, the alliance Turkish-backed militant groups, which do not pariticpate in operations against the Syrian government in Aleppo city, have captured the town of Al-Rai from ISIS after two day of clashes inside and in its outskirts. After the “normalization” of relations with Russia, the Erdogan regime has cut off a significant part of its ties with ISIS and now is using loyal militant groups in order to oppose ISIS and Kurdish forces in nortern Syria. The idea is to regain as much as it’s possible ground from ISIS along the Turkish-Syrian border. This should prevent the predominantly Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (another brand for the YPG) from expansion in the same area.
