Afghan security forces and the Taliban continue to clash for the control of the province of Herat. According to pro-government sources, at least 8 Taliban members were recently killed in the city of Herat. In turn, the Taliban claimed that at least 4 government vehicles were destroyed and 20 pro-government fighters were killed in the Pashtun Zarghon district of the province.
Separately, a commander of the Afghan National Civil Order Police in Takhar province was killed in a Taliban attack near the city of Kunduz.
