Fighting for the town of Kreminna and its vicinity came to an end the last few days. The town and its surroundings are now under full control of the Russian Armed Forces.
The offensive on Kreminna area began around 14-15 April.
On 21 April, the Russian Defence Ministry officially announced that units of the Russian Armed Forces and the LPR People’s Militia had taken full control of the town of Kreminna, which had been turned into a stronghold by Ukrainian Army.
“As a result of the rapid and well-coordinated actions of the assault units, they managed to avoid serious damage to the city’s infrastructure and residential buildings.”
The offensive was conducted from two directions, north to south and east to west.
On 18 April, units of the Russian and LPR Armed Forces entered the town from the north. Earlier to avoid encirclement, AFU units left the city and took up positions to the west in its vicinity.
On 19 April the village of Staraya Krasnyanka between Kremenna and Rubizhne was occupied, thereby the road between Rubizhne and Kreminna was took under control.
By the morning of 20 April, units of the Russian Armed Forces and the LPR had reached the attack line on the fortified positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the west of Kreminna.
The further offensive was preceded by massive artillery shelling.
The offensive was led by tank units supported by motorised infantry.
During the retreat, AFU reconnaissance groups attempted to infiltrate the rear of advancing Russian units. Many were eliminated.
Mercenaries from Georgia have been eliminated in Kreminna. A significant number of AFU soldiers, including foreign mercenaries, were captured.
The offensive resulted in the destruction of a significant amount of AFU equipment. Numerous weapons were seized from the positions left behind, including ATGMs and grenade launchers manufactured in NATO countries.
The AFU units retreating from Kreminna on the march and then to Severodonetsk were hit by the Russian and LPR artillery and suffered significant losses.
Further offensive by the Russian and LPR Armed Forces in this area heads in the direction of Liman and Yampil.
For its part, on 24 April, south of Severodonetsk, LPR units occupied the village of Novotashkovskoye. Severodonetsk-Lysychansk is now in a semicircle.
