The Russian Defense Ministry has released a series of videos showing airstrikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces on militants in the Syrian province of Idlib.
Units and infrastructure of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) were the main target of the effort.
General Igor Konashenkov, spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, commented reports that the Russian Aerospace Forces bomb civilian targets saying that “the Russian Air Force does not strike populated areas in the Syrian Arab Republic.”
He added that statements of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) are “sourced to anonymous ‘eyewitnesses’ or ‘volunteers,’ are traditionally unsubstantiated and serve as an ‘informational cover’ for the activity of Al Nusra [Hayat Tahrir al-Sham] militants and affiliated warring factions.”
Earlier the SOHR said that 27 civilians were killed and 57 others were injured as a result of the Russian airstrikes in the past few days.

According to locals in the region, the bombing in the region over the last period also bombed and put out of business several hospitals in the region. Not only reported by the often correct SOHR but also by several NGO’s running hospitals there, incl MSF.
Surely you do not suggest they airbombed themselves or the SDF did it, both having no airforce and Russia admitting bombing there and being the only airforce active in the region.

I’m perfectly willing to believe that if the Jihadists put their ammo dumps and HQ’s next to hospitals and schools, then civilians will get killed. This is standard practice for insurgents, hide among civilians, use them as human shields. Just like thousands got killed in Raqqa during Coalition airstrikes in support for your precious Kurds. Are you going to cry foul over that too?
Thing is, its war, and where there is fighting civilians will die. If we exclude the Jewish population that was gassed in the concentration camps (and they were, I don’t want any Holocaust deniers responding to this), then more Dutch were killed as a result of Allied bombing and combat operations in the Netherlands then from the German invasion and occupation. This happens in war, and the best way to stop the killing is by ending the war. As long as Al Qaida and its affiliates are in Idlib and launching attacks then civilians will die as a consequence.
It’s difficult to believe that the Russians haven’t killed anyone by accident but compared to US ultra-violence, you’d think it was a birthday present. It’s certainly better than anything that American Caesar has in mind for a post secular Syria, which is a cross between zionist occupied Gaza and nazi-occupied Poland.
