The US and Turkey may create a joint working group to discuss the situation with the Turkish decision to purchase the S-400 system from Russia.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he came with this proposal during his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
Both sides describing the meeting as productive. However, at a joint news conference, Trump recalled the US concerns over this situation.
“Turkey’s acquisition of sophisticated Russian military weapons, such as the S-400, creates some very serious challenges for us,” Trump said standing alongside Erdogan. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to resolve that situation,” he added.
According to Erdogan, the proposed working gorpu should include representatives of the countires’ defense ministries as well as the press secretary and special adviser to the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalin and US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien.
Erdogan described Washington’s demand to reject the S-400 as wrong and said that Turkey is ready to consider buying US-made Patriot missile systems. Nonetheless, he pointed out that the “diversification” of “defense resources” is in Turkey’s national interests and its sovereign right.
“I hope that we will get a positive result at the end of the work of [such a group],” the Turkish leader said, adding that he saw Trump’s “more positive attitude” and “more constructive approach” in the negotiations.

If Erdogan refuse the offer of $100 billion, he should be offered $200 billion until he says yes. Erdogan will dismantle the S-400 smiling all over his face and send them back to Russia. Turkey would be happy :-D and the Turkish gate would be wide open…………………LOL.

yeah donny the rump can wish for talks etc but he and the rest of the washington dc garbage fail to realize that from turkey’s point of view kurds are a no no no and there is no way that turkey or syria will allow a kurdish settlement within syria more or less on the turkish border. not gonna happen. and besides of the 40 million kurds in the borderareas about 60 70 % are found in turkey and that is why turkey has had soldiers en masse in the kurdish area since the beginning of time to prevent them from getting ideas in their heads.
