In October 2019, the Kozelks and Okhotsk Project 22800 Karakurt-class guided-missile corvettes (small missile ships) were launched, at the More Shipyard in Feodosia, Crimea.

These are the two first warships to be manufactured at the shipyard, under the control of Leningrad Shipbuilding plant Pella.

The Kozelsk was launched on October 9th, from the More shipyard and towed through the inland waterways from Feodosia to the Pella shipbuilding plant on October 17th, in the Leningrad region.

The Okhotsk was launched on October 29th and hasn’t been towed to the Pella shipbuilding plant yet.

Project 22800 was developed by Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau JSC (St. Petersburg) and is aimed as a replacement for the Russian Navy of project 21631 Buyan-class corvette, developed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau (JSC) (construction of the latter is limited to 12 units so far).

To date, the Russian Navy has contracted 18 corvettes of project 22800. The construction of the first seven corvettes of project 22800 is carried out by the Pella shipbuilding plant.

The laying ceremony for the Russian Navy of the first two crovettes of Project 22800 “Hurricane” (in 2018 it was renamed Mytishchi) and Typhoon (now called Sovetsk) was held at the Pella plant on December 24th, 2015.

The launch of the MRK “Hurricane” was carried out on July 29th, 2017. The contract deadline for Hurricane was 2017.

In reality, however, the Hurricane ship did not go to factory sea trials until May 17th, 2018 and began the State trials on October 16th, 2018. The ship was commissioned by the Baltic Fleet under the name Mytishchi on December 17th, 2018.

The second corvette – Typhoon (now Sovetsk) was launched on November 24th, 2017, and was officially commissioned, after passing all trials on May 20th, 2019, and on October 12th, 2019, the ship was introduced into the Russian Navy.

The third corvette – Shkval (now called Odintsovo) was laid down at the Pella shipbuilding plant on July 29th, 2016 and launched on May 5th, 2018. On December 24, 2016, the fourth corvette of the project – Shtorm was launched at the Pella shipbuilding plant and it launched on October 23rd, 2018.

Shtorm is also the first corvette of the class launched at the More shipyard in Feodosia, Crimea. It was renamed to Kozelsk, which launched on the above-mentioned date.

The second corvette Okhotsk was laid down in Feodosia on March 17th, 2017, and launched on October 29th, 2019.

The third corvette Vihry was laid down on December 19th, 2017. And those are all three corvettes that are being constructed at the More Shipyard in Feodosia, Crimea.

There are other corvettes of the project 22800 being constructed at other shipyards.

Most of them have delays such as the ones described above, primarily due to the slow production rate of the warships’ M507 diesel engines, manufactured by PJSC Zvezda.

The Project 22800 Karakurt-class corvette is a class of small missile ships. Project 22800 was first publicly presented by Almaz during the International Military-Technical Forum «ARMY-2015», held in Kubinka. At the time, the class was presented yet as Project 12300. During the exhibition, it was also announced 18 ships are planned for construction.

this soviet era toy can only hold 8 cruise missiles? haha :-] 1 single US Navy destroyer can carry 90 Tomahawk missiles! 1 SINGLE US Navy Submarine can carry 154 Tomahawk missiles! US Navy superiority :-] P.S. this is NOT even nuclear powered either, EVERY single US Navy ship is NUCLEAR powered

grumpy_carpenter

“EVERY single US Navy ship is NUCLEAR powered”

You should have shut up after comparing a US destroyer and a submarine with a Russian corvette but you just had to double down on stupid.

THIS is a US corvette https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom-class_littoral_combat_ship I doesn’t have any cruise missiles. You don’t see much of them because they are either in dry dock or being towed to a dry dock due to engine failure, electrical failure or just failure in general. It’s probably for the best however because even the pentagon questions it’s survivability.

The US ship cost $389 M USD while a Russian Buyan class corvette cost $18 M USD

jaky believes since he scammed many dull witted amerikans in Arizona before authorities prosecuted him, some here will be gullible enough to be seduced by his childish insecure tantrums

MikeH

Another fun fact about the Corvettes is that they can transit the inland waterways of Russia. Any corvette in the Black Sea can be in Baltic a week or so later. This is part of the reason that comparing Russia’s defense structure to the US on a ship for ship, plane for plane basis is useless.

Vas

Hello murican immigrant, any mass murder today in your multinational immigrant country?

As for the ship, well we all know very well that you are trolling, otherwise an intelligent person would never say this stupid things, you cant compare a Frigate/Destroyer(in our days no much difference between them), to a corvette. You can build it in huge numbers due to its very low cost(30-50 million dollars), for every A.Burke destroyer you can build 2 dozen at least karakurt class corvettes, and has great firepower for its size, equal to a medium size western Frigate.

It doesn’t matter how many missiles the A.Burke destroyer carries, since this corvette its purely designed for defence mainly close to mainland and with its supersonic and hypersonic antiship missiles it can destroy any US ship from great distance, long before the US ship can retaliate back, and US ships and western designs in general have little to no defence against modern antiship russian missiles.

In contrary russian defences will have very easy time to intercept the obsolete and ancient western antiship cruise missiles like Exocet, Harpoon, RBS-15 and so on, this western missiles are worth almost nothing against modern defences.

So in other words it doesn’t matter how many tomahawks or SM-2/3/ESSM US navy ships carry, you have to win the sea engagement first and with your obsolete missiles you cant do it, russian antiship missiles will out-range you, out-manoeuvrer and out-speed any defence that western navy ships(including US) have.

Rhodium 10

That US destroyers are armed with Harpoon missile( 150km range)…so a single Russian corvette can launch 8 Kalibr-K antiship cruise missile( 500km range) and take out 2 US destroyers with its 60 Tomahawk inside( not 90)…by the way Russian navy have upgraded Oscar class submarines( now have 72 Kalibr cruise missile) and Yasen class ( 50 Kalibr cruise missile)…

Jacob Wohl

still cannot compare to the 90 and 154 from US subs :-]

MikeH

There are 4 SSGNs. There are max of 2 available at any time in normal deployments. these boats are better for bombing mud dwellers than trying to fight a large war with competent adversaries.

Mike

Stick to child molesting you silly little Israeli maggot.

Rhodium 10

still you cannot compare minuteman ICBM vs Russian Sarmat or Avangard….still cannot compare Patriot fake antidrone-cruise missile missile vs S-400…still cannot compare Harpoon antiship missile vs P-800 Brahmos…

Mike

Your smile face is as much puke inducing as your pathetic child molester intimidating face there rat boy.

Jacob Wohl

yeah whatever you say 10 year old

Mike

At-least I don’t molest 10 year olds.

Mike

You are better kiddie porn peddler then a military expert there jacob. It’s a staple industry in Israel, that and selling meth.

Mike

Where you involved in this story there Jacob, https://southfront.org/leaked-video-revelas-msm-attempts-to-cover-up-high-profile-paedophile-story/.

smertzakrov

Russian military is vastly superior to the amerikans–they r so stupid that they spend trillions USD on inferior missiles, inferior war planes like the f-35, defense systems so impotent they were unable to intercept Houthi drones…farcically they spend trillions on carriers that Russian subs and corvettes can obliterate w newly created hypersonics— that the USA cannot defend—a paper tiger as Mao observed

Toronto Tonto

Your a funny dumbass .

Mike

You’re as clever as ever, from whatever shithole country your really from solomon kupek.

Jozef Mak

yew does not have any country.

smertzakrov

projecting your 8 yr old feminine insecurities once again

JoeAlpha

This ship has a large destructive power even though its size is relatively small. 8 kalibr missiles are more than enough to destroy enemy positions from a great distance. And also can be produced in large numbers because the price is quite cheap. This is a corvette that has the power of a small frigate.

BMWA1

A patrol boat manufactured at Kerch is aleady in service off Syria.

Boycott-Saudi!!!

These are good ships… I wouldn’t mind order ten of them, and lease it to Iranian Army for free… Why not?

Toronto Tonto

There is a common sight , tug boats around a Russian craft are the tugs real navy boats too .

grumpy_carpenter

For your information THIS is the latest US corvette. https://www.businessinsider.com/us-navy-littoral-combat-ship-problems-2018-4

You talk about Russian vessels needing tugs. This baby had to be towed from three oceans and the Panama canal. 17 years and $$$ billions the ship still can’t make the “30 days at sea without major systems failure” that would allow the pentagon to deploy these ships.

These ships are so bad the Israeli’s won’t take them for free. The only navy interested in buying the LCS is the Saudi Navy and the only ships they know about are ‘ships of the desert’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXQ859dZb24

Mike

Those camels look like toronto tonto’s mother or maybe Jacob Wolhl, then again Wohl is more of sewer gutter rat.

Mike

Russia’s got a navy as opposed to whatever shitty country you are from solomon kupek, also get over it you lost Syria.

Tim Hadfield

Small missile ships make sense – big aircraft carriers do not – they’re just big targets.
