Five Militants Killed Or Injured In Syrian Army Strikes On Greater Idlib

On February 21, two militants were killed and three others were injured in a series of artillery strikes by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the northwestern region of Greater Idlib.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strikes targeted militants’ positions and fortifications in the vicinity of the town of Fatterah in the southern countryside of Idlib.

The SAA strikes were likely a response to recent violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey on March 5 of the last year. In one of the most recent violations, the militants targeted a bulldozer of the army near the town of Afes in southern Idlib with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).

Earlier this week, the SAA killed a militant and wounded another in eastern Idlib after targeting their bulldozer with an ATGM.

The al-Fateh al-Mubeen Operations Room, which is commanded by al-Qaeda-affiliate Hay’at Tahir al-Sham, coordinates militants’ activities in Greater Idlib.

Recently, the SAA and its allies, namely the Russian Aerospace Forces, stepped up their operations against ceasefire violators in Greater Idlib. In spite of this, the region’s militants are not backing down.
