Five Syrian Soldiers Killed Or Wounded In New Attack By HTS In Western Aleppo (Photos)

On October 5, terrorists of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the de-facto ruler of the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, raided a position of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the 46th Regiment Base in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The raid was carried out by the Inghamiseen Division of HTS’s Umar ibn al-Khattab Brigade, which is specialized in suicide attacks.

A spokesman for HTS claimed that five soldiers of the SAA were killed or wounded as a result of the raid, which ended with the destruction of the position. These claims are highly questionable because Syrian pro-government sources didn’t report any casualties and the photos released by the terrorist group don’t show any dead bodies.

The raid took place less than 24 hours after a series of Russian airstrikes that targeted the town of Kabani in the northern Lattakia countryside, a key stronghold of HTS.

HTS has been violating the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered more than two years ago, on a daily basis for a while now. On September 23, the group’s terrorists conducted a similar raid in the western Aleppo countryside. Back then, the group alleged that six Syrian soldiers were killed.

The new raid, which represents a blatant violation of the ceasefire, will likely be met with a fierce response from the SAA and its allies, first and foremost the Russian military. A new series of Russian airstrikes could hit HTS positions in Greater Idlib in the upcoming few days.
