Five Wounded In Turkish Drone Strike On Warehouse Of Kurdish Forces In Syria’s Al-Qamishli (Videos)

On June 9, five people were wounded when a Turkish combat drone targeted a warehouse of the Community Protection Units, a security branch of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in northeastern Syria.

The warehouse in question is located in in the eastern part of the town of al-Qamishli in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah. Footage from the scene of the strike showed some damage at a number of vehicles which were parked near the warehouse.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this was the 31st Turkish drone strike to target SDF-held areas in northern and northeastern Syria this year.

The strike came amid preparations by the Turkish military and its proxies to launch an operation against the SDF with the aim of establishing a 30-kilometer safe zone. The Turkish media said on June 8 that the operation could start within 72 hours.

The SDF has been preparing to face a new Turkish invasion. The Syrian Arab Army, who maintains positions in the group’s areas of influence, has been also making preparation for a possible confrontation with the Turkish military and its proxies.

In a recent interview with RT, President Bashar al-Assad said that the Turkish military and its proxies will be met with “popular” and “official” resistance if they launched a new invasion into Syria.

What goes around, comes around, usually in the shape of a drone. Instead of joining forces with the SAA, the Kurd leadership decided to go for broke. They wanted full independence and the Syrian oilfields. They will end up with neither. Greed never was a good reason to fight another.

No, they look for authonomy and RESPECT. Respect of theit language, tradition, culture WITHIN Syria. After decades of persecutions. And even Russians understood taht. And agreement are not reached even if there is a commun (MANKIND) enemy. Up to now … maybe even President Assad realized the BEASTS he has in front, MERDolfgan UNHUMAN GENOCIDALS

Peter Jennings

They had that from the Assad gov’t, but they wanted more. Taking Syrian land and oilfields is a nice way to repay Syrian authorities for their care and attention. They did this at the worse possible moment for Syria, instead of joining forces with the SAA to sort out this problem. The other problem could have waited until times were more settled.

The Syrians and the Iraqi’s accepted the Kurds onto their lands. The Turkish admin won’t. The people of northern Iraq and northern Syria have tried to live side by side ever since. Until the US/nato and isreal attacked Syria with their proxy armies. Obviously The Kurds had other plans all along.

In Iraq, the Kurds assisted the US and nato in order to get what they wanted there. That didn’t happen, as the US used them and then left them to Saddam and the mountains. The Kurds do not seem to be picky when it comes to accepting help from regimes.

FALSE!
