Following Border Clash With China India Announces Acquisition Of 33 Fighter Jets From Russia

Following the recent fatal clash between Indian and Chinese troops at a contested part of the border between the two countries (the ‘Line of Actual Control’) in the mountainous Ladakh region, India’s Defence Ministry has approved the purchase of 33 Russian fighter aircraft, including 21 MiG 29s and 12 Su-30MKIs.

The Defence Ministry announced on Thursday that it has approved a proposal to acquire 33 new fighter aircraft including 12 Su-30MKIs and 21 MiG-29s, along with a program to upgrade 59 MiG-29s of the Indian Air Force.

“Addressing the long felt need of the Indian Air Force to increase its fighter squadrons, the DAC also approved the proposal for procurement of 21 MiG-29 along with upgradation of existing 59 MiG-29 aircraft and procurement of 12 Su-30 MKI aircraft,” the defence ministry said in a statement on Thursday after a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The DAC also approved the acquisitions of various platforms and equipment required by the Indian Armed Forces, including 248 Astra Beyond Visual Range air-to-air missiles for the Indian Air Force and the Navy. The design and development of a new 1,000 kilometre strike range Land Attack Cruise Missile has also been cleared.

“Acquisition of new/additional missile systems will add to the fire power of three Services. While acquisition of Pinaka missile systems will enable raising additional regiments over and above the ones already inducted, addition of Long Range Land Attack Missile Systems having a firing range of 1000 Km to the existing arsenal will bolster the attack capabilities of the Navy and the Air Force. Similarly induction of Astra Missiles having Beyond Visual Range capability will serve as a force multiplier and immensely add to the strike capability of Navy and Air Force,” the statement said.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) continues to make additional preparations to deal with any possible military confrontation with the Chinese armed forces and its forward bases have been ordered to be on their highest state of alert. Apart from Sukhoi-30s and upgraded MiG-29 fighter jets, the IAF is operating Apache AH-64E attack helicopters and CH-47F (I) Chinook multi-mission helicopters.

Just as the IAF and the Indian Army have deployed their air defence systems in eastern Ladakh, China’s People’s Liberation Army and Air Force have activated several of their bases in both Xinjiang and the Tibet Autonomous Region. LINK

During the Cold War, India and the Soviet Union (USSR) had a strong strategic, military, economic and diplomatic relationship. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia continued its close relationship with India. Traditionally, the Indo-Russian strategic partnership has been built on five major components: politics, defence, civil nuclear energy, anti-terrorism co-operation and space. More recently a sixth element, the economic component, has grown in importance.

The latest purchase is part of an ambitious program of modernization of India’s armed forces which has seen it obtain advanced weapons and technology from many countries.

As the stand off with China in disputed border areas continues, Indian Prime Minister Nahendrah Modi visited the Ladakh region on Friday in a move interpreted by Indian media as intended to send a strategic message to China that India is determined to defend its borders as well as to boost the morale of India’s troops in the area and demonstrate the government’s appreciation of their efforts. Hindustan Times reported:

On a surprise visit to Ladakh in the midst of heightened tension between India and China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday told soldiers that modernisation of the armed forces is a priority and that the spending on border infrastructure has almost tripled.

In an address to troops, Modi said India is manufacturing critical weapons and bringing modern technology from around the world for the armed forces as the government is paying lot of attention for their requirement. “If India is enhancing its powers on land, air and water, then it is for the welfare of mankind,” he said. Chinese media outlet Global Times reported of the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to the border area:

In response [to Modi’s statements], Zhao Lijian, the spokesperson of China’s foreign ministry, said at Friday’s media briefing that China and India are engaging in dialogue on easing the situation through military and diplomatic channels, and neither side should take any action that may complicate the border situation.

Qian Feng, the director of the research department of the National Strategy Institute at Tsinghua University in Beijing, told the Global Times on Friday that Modi attempted to show that he was a “strongman” on national security issues to soften criticism against him and shift public attention from his government’s incompetence in the coronavirus response, and economic slowdown.

Modi could learn about the preparations and deployment of the frontline and make preparations for the next step, Qian said.

The move also served to show China and the international community that India is firm in its commitment to safeguard national sovereignty, although India is willing to ease the situation through a bilateral mechanism and dialogue, Qian said.  LINK

Although the situation remains extremely tense, it appears that the senior leadership on both sides is attempting to calm the situation even as they continue to reinforce their military forces and infrastructure in border areas.

Russia is peddling weapons to both China and India, it is a win-win situation.

However the training of a good pilot would take years, I don’t quite understand how will India use the planes if they don’t buy them with pilots included :)

pilots are an added option, along with batteries and sunroof.

Nice

Yes, almost 4th generation JF 17(Joint Fighter) downed both a Mig-21 and SU-30, but then again the Indian pilots are crap. The Chinese have upgraded their SU-30 to J-16 standard with new avionics and the Indians would be blasted out of the skies in minutes. The J-16 is 5th generation.

Liberal guy

But they reported only the downed mig21

Liberal guy

Why that so? Why they, are telling lies?

Zionism = EVIL

Truth is the first casualty of war. If you read my FACTUAL and corroborated archived account, IAF lost a Zionist “upgraded” Mig 21 Bison, a MI-17 helicopter was shot down by mistake by Indians themselves, and a F-16 flown by Wing Commander Nouman Ali Khan shot down a IAF SU-30MKI. Both the Pakstani pilots received their highest military awards. Their Squardon Leader Hassan Siddiqui shot down the IAF Mig 21 flown by IAF geriatric Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was held captive in Pakistan for 60 hours after his aircraft was shot down in an aerial dogfight. Both PAF claims are now confirmed kills.

Pakistan’s air force has shot down two Indian warplanes, capturing one Indian pilot, after they crossed the boundary between the two nuclear-armed rivals in the disputed territory of Kashmir, a US military spokesman said.

Both Indians and Russians downplayed it as the F-16 in skilled pilots hands proved superior to the poorly piloted SU-30MKI (which was an older model and not that well maintained). You can watch the aggressive Pakistanis chasing the Indians at tree top levels.

J16 is fifth generation? yikes.

Lone Ranger

Since both countries are a member of the Sanghai Cooperation Organisation Russia cant favor either countries over the other. The situation is very similar to Greece and Turkey being both NATO members but they hate eachother. U.S. sells them both weapons, F-16s included.

Superfly

Russia is better than US and should stay clear of this potential conflict being fanned by US and its Zionist handlers. China is the world’s future.

Ivan Freely

I understand why India was included into the SCO, but to include someone with an active border dispute with an existing member was a bad idea.

Zionism = EVIL

Actually NO, Indian dumbasses are the second largest importer of weapons in world after the Saudi loser cunts. They have bought useless froggy junk like the shitcan Rafale. But they have also have illiterate half starved runt soldiers who can’t fight. Modi a dumb Hindu extremist uneducated cunt who takes orders from his Zionist masters who are feeding him bullshit to fan a suicidal war which will India will lose and then carved up as China and Pakistan have a defence pact and the Pakistani PM has already said that they are obligated to assist their closest “brotherly friend” in an way they can.

Pakistan moves 20,000 additional mountain soldiers to LoC: Report

A massive build-up in Pakistani Kashmir near their Chinese allies would mean additional problems for the hard pressed Indian Army, besides having deployment of forces in eastern Ladakh to counter China.

Americunts have “warned” India of sanctions if they buy more Russian weapons.

Bob

Slight difference – in past China has bought advanced Russian aviation hardware only to then turn around and make unlicensed copies – ie, Su-27 knock-offs called Shenyang’s – but thieves don’t always prosper, as the Chinese reverse engineered turbofan engines have basically proven very troublesome and unreliable.

This is nothing new. China and India have been butting heads over this region for a very long time.

The UN could help resolve the situation, however, after the gulf war and since, they can no longer be trusted with adult problems.

Zionism = EVIL

The UN cunts are the biggest promoters of Americunt and Zionist fanned wars from Iraq WMD bullshit to now fanning the nuclear baloney against Iran. The UN is out of date imperialist racist shitshop and needs to be reformed or shut down.

Lone Ranger

Why would India buy Mig-29s when they can buy the Mig-35?

Superfly

Indians have very poor quality pilots and have the world’s worst crash record. Mig 35 is too sophisticated.

Ivan Freely

Perhaps costs. No mention if India is going for the naval variant or not. Important as they’re building their next aircraft carrier.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

They fit in with an existing fleet, and are up-graded with more modern avionics. 59 of their older Migs will be upgraded to the same level, so costs and training time benefits exist.

The Russians are doing very well developing Mig35, Su57 and T14 Armata, and building on to the older weapons advances these systems have developed. T90M uses same gun, sights and FCS as T14, while Su35 is using gear from Su57, ditto with Mig 29 and 35.It cuts the cost of development and production, while obviously improving older but still lethal, older generation equipment. They could go and scrap the older gear, change production lines and sell off licenses to build them abroad, and watch as someone else flogs off cheap but deadly weapons.

Superfly

The only cheerleaders for a indo-Sino destructive conflict are the usual suspects, US, UK and the Zionist endless war and misery fans. Hopefully, saner minds will prevail.

Zionism = EVIL

Hola, muchachos, let me tell you kiddies what the fuck is really going on based on the usual FACTS, the reality is that any suicidal Zionist cunts inspired war on roof the world will be the end of the shithole India. The war will become an instant two front conflict as Pakistan will attack India in Kashmir before it can say toilets. The most interesting facts on the ground I have seen are totally new built JF-17 hangers that have sprung up in two weeks at the Pakistani forward base on the Dras-Skardu LOC, just 25kms from border and Chinese Super J-11 have been seen flying over the area. From my own experience, I don’t believe that the Skardu airport can handle the J-11 but is ideal for the rugged Chinese and Pakistani JF-17 which have a very short take off and can handle any aircraft quite easily as the last Indo-Pakistani one sided encounter showed. I also don’t believe that the Indians will be stupid enough to commit mass national suicide by taking on superpower China along with its “all weather” allyPakistan. Modi is s dumb Zionist cunt, but the Indian airforce is in the same category as Burundi and will not take in two of the world’s best airforces with 1970’s Mig 29. india riles you so much you become a bitter irrational troll. India is a nuclear power that can destroy Pakistan and China any day of the year. No wonder you could not go far in your military career. A General Officer like you, full of emotional irrationality, would be a disaster for any nation

Zionism = EVIL

Personally Indian guy, I would not give a crap about India or South Asia and I just state FACTS and like the Chinese, I have worked with them and find them very reliable, hard working and skilled. India is really a shithole and you know it. I have traveled over 120 countries in my liftetime and lived in eight and India is at the lowest rung, it is unclean and the people are liars and totally untrustworthy. Even Indians have created a website called WHY INDIA IS SO DIRTY. So get with the program. China is the only SUPERPOWER left and wait for another decade. Sonny, this is not about me but about REALITY. In all of the large developing countries, I have lot of time for Indonesia, now they are very motivated and increasingly educated. China should be forming an alliance with them. The rising stars are China, Indonesia, Turkey, Iran and most likely Algeria in the Maghreb, the rest are mediocre and not a hope in hell. I know FACTS are tough on kids and their silly jingoistic “patriotism”. The Jew cunts living on western welfare also think that they are a nuclear power and so do the Pakistanis ROFLMAO!
