On June 6, the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) news agency, known as Islam Awazi, released photos showing the terrorist group’s fighters shelling positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern Hama countryside with a Turkish-made mortar cannon.
The mortar was identified as HY-12, a licensed copy of the French MO-120-RT [Mortier de 120mm Rayé Tracté Modèle F1]. These mortars are manufactured by Turkey’s MKEK. The 120mm mortar has a range of more than 8km and can fire 6-10 rounds per minute.

The TIP is one of the biggest al-Qaeda branches in Syria with more than 3,000 Uyghurs fighters. These terrorists are occupying many settlements in northern Lattakia and northwestern Idlib, including the strategic city of Jisr al-Shughur.
This was not the first time when Turkish-made HY-12 mortars were spotted with militants in northern Hama. Last month, fighters of the National Front for Liberation (NFL) were seen with this type of mortar. Turkey is believed to be the supplier.
Both the TIP and the NFL are supporting the ongoing large-scale military operation of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in northern Hama.

Well, this should hardly come as a surprise, as Turkey has been the main sponsor and conduit of terrorism in Syria. The headchoppers report directly to Erdogan and the Turkish military, which recruits, trains, feeds and arms them. I suspect that Russia and Turkey have made a deal of sorts about Idlib. The two countries will continue to work on whatever else they were working on, in exchange Russia will turn a blind eye to Turkey still giving the Jihadis weapons and support, and Turkey in return will not intervene directly in Idlib.

It’s not about trust. Syria must avoid a shooting war with Turkey at the moment, so that they have something in common when it comes to dealing with the Kurds. So while you don’t have a shooting war, you might as well talk to them and see how that goes. It is about limiting Turkish support for some of the jihadist groups. It’ll never be 100% result but anything is better than nothing. If a hundred jihadists leave Syria it is worth talking. But it is NATO that is not allowing them to leave and is putting up the money for support, and Turkey is enmeshed with all that up to their necks, and can’t get out easily. Russia don’t want Turkey hostile because it complicates things, and the Black Sea area peace is vital for Russia.
Driving a giant wedge between a NATO country and the rest of NATO is a HUGE feat for Russia, a major diplomatic coup. Not to mention that Turkey occupies major strategic real estate, if only be controlling access to the Black Sea, a major important area to the Russians? Also the more influence Russia has on Turkey, the bigger the chance the war in Syria comes to a conclusion more favorable to Russia? I see only pluspoints for Russia to have Turkey on its side.
As for not trusting Turkey, that’s 100% logical. I don’t trust Erdogan one bit. To say Erdogan is an untrustworthy charlatan is an insult to charlatans. I hate that fucker with a fiery passion. But I understand that Putin has to play nice to that piece of shit (no insult to shit intended). As for Turkey getting directly involved in Syria, doubtful. If Erdogan did that, cursed be his name, he would burn every bridge that he has with Putin. And I don’t think he wants to do that. Play Russia against the US, yes, but you can’t do if there’s nothing left to play any more. I reckon that Turkish troops might become more active, as in position themselves between the SAA and the Jihadi’s, to passively protect them. But to actively fight the SAA, that I don’t think so. And of course, as we’ve seen a couple of times already, they make for excellent targets of convenience to send a message to that dog Erdogan (no insult to dogs intended) by ‘accidentally’ shelling them.
Solution: SAA needs to Tochka every single torki observation post SOLVED :)
