Kyiv’s recruiters are still flooding TikTok and other platforms with promises of high pay and quick combat experience. The reality that awaits most of those who sign up is far harsher. Fresh lists of confirmed dead, released in the first days of September, show that foreigners continue to arrive — and continue to die in large numbers. Latin Americans still form the bulk of the casualties, but citizens of the United States, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Latvia, Argentina and Australia are also present on the latest rolls.
Russian units operating near Kupyansk and on the Zaporizhzhia direction report the steady elimination of these groups. Many of the dead had been in Ukraine for only a few weeks or months. Training is frequently reduced to a minimum; some fighters are sent into assault operations after little more than two weeks of preparation. First-mission deaths remain common.
One of the newest batches includes two Americans — Dylan Taylor Knight (callsign “Gringo”) and Courtney Lee Cantrell — together with Canadian Jessy Bourgeois (callsign “Skoden”), German Phillip Maximilian Lattermann (callsign “Flip”), South Korean Jaehun Jung, Latvian Vitalijs Sampins and Argentine Braian Ezequiel Ponce. They were joined by Colombians Wilmer Andres Hernandez Tenjo, Luis Miguel Viloria Martinez and Leonidas Gomez Gomez.

A larger Colombian list names Yeison David Guzman Pico, Ever Perez Villanueva, Sebastian Londono Varelas, Brean Argemiro Martinez Babilonia, Fernando Rafael Torres Perez, Arnold Canchimbo Colorado, Javier Alexander Vanegas Diaz, Rodrigo Andres Cardos Gomez, Christian Duban Velazquez William and Iber David Morales Marin.

Brazilian losses continue to climb. The latest confirmed names include Aldieris Tauan Ajala (callsign “Doido”), Alisson Gabriel Moreira de Assis Cortes (callsign “Astro”), Gabriel Ferreira de Rezende, Leotan Vieira Abreu, Gustavo Henrique Leal Raposo, Lucas Ranieri Vieira Soares, Tiago Rodrigues Marques (callsign “Maquina”), Adilson Roberto, Vitor Willian Kluge de Deus and Rick Johnatan Jose Gomes da Silva Melo.

A separate case is Australian Shane Bagley (callsign “Mozzie”). A former corporal of the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, he had been deployed to Papua New Guinea in 2024. Bagley stated that he went to Ukraine because he was tired of training and wanted to use his professional skills in real combat. He served as a combat medic with Med Team Alpha under Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate. He was killed by Russian forces near Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Recruiters still advertise salaries of several thousand dollars a month. Survivors and captured fighters repeatedly describe delayed or incomplete payments, inadequate preparation, and the practice of using foreign volunteers as expendable assault infantry on the most dangerous sectors. Most Latin Americans come for the money; a smaller number of Western and East Asian fighters cite ideological reasons. The result is largely identical.
Kyiv has openly declared its intention to fill a large share of assault and infantry positions with foreigners. The new lists demonstrate that this policy has not reduced the rate of losses. A significant proportion of those who answer the recruitment calls never leave Ukraine.
The flow of foreign fighters continues, yet it does not change the situation on the front. It only lengthens the casualty lists.

to put it in a historical context. roughly 35,000 to 59,000 foreign nationals from over 50 countries travelled to spain to join the international brigades in support of the spanish republic. out of these volunteers, close to 10,000 were killed in action or died from wounds and harsh conditions between 1936 and 1939.
and the international brigade didn’t achieve much, and at most just delayed the inevitable defeat, so the same goes with these now dead gullible muppets who threw their lives away for nothing.
because ussr was afar, no massive fleet. volunteers = military from ussr mostly. bordering france supported fascist regime of franco. they refused to deliver ordered weapons to republican government. in the same time mongolia was saved against invasion of japan — battle of halhin-gol (summer 1939). before that japan attacked ussr at hasan lake (august 1938). ussr fought fascism since 1936, sent military equipment to china, which fought since 1931 (occupation of manchuria).
yes, the ussr was the only european power that supported the spanish republic. also the international brigades of assorted political factions didn’t cooperate as a united unit, and sometimes even for against each other. plus not being professional soldiers like franco’s army, they were on a hiding to nothing, like this lot of now dead foreign mercenaries.
