Alexey Arestovich, former adviser to the Ukrainian President, gave another interview, discussing a possible solution to the military conflict in Ukraine.
According to Arestovich, there are the following conditions for the Ukrainian military victory:
- hundreds of thousands of professionally trained fighters
- advanced NATO standard military equipment for these soldiers
- successful military operations along all the front lines in Donbass “to grind down all Russian forces” in these territories
- Kiev would also need to “digest the de-occupied regions,” whose population has always held pro-Russian views and who have been living in Russia for months.
Moreover, all the conditions above should be fulfilled in the nearest future.
Arestovich and his interlocutors, of course, come to the conclusion that the Kiev regime has neither military nor political means to achieve a military victory in the war against Russia. Moreover, the Ukrainian population is not ready for a potential military defeat of the Ukrainian army in battle and is confident in its victory, which still remains a “sweet dream”. The population should be ready to fight to the last Ukrainian soldier, which is why there are no public discussions about any other settlement of the war, except for the victory of Ukraine on the battlefield.
Thus, Arestovich claims that there is still the possibility to achieve some important “bonuses” for Kiev in case of a diplomatic solution of the military conflict. The Russian side is always ready for negotiations. What is more important, according to Arestovich, is that the Western top military and political leadership is also considering the diplomatic way of settlement of the Ukrainian war.
In its turn, the Kiev regime could gain important perks, for example, in the case of the Korean scenario. The US and the EU could turn the remaining part of the territory into a “new South Korea”, which means multi-billion investments and assurance of Ukrainian security.
Earlier, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, claimed that Kiev was being offered a settlement according to the “Korean scenario”. According to him, at meetings with European politicians, Moscow allegedly conveyed “messages that they are ready for concessions, but in order to fix the status quo.” In its turn, the Russian side denied that there are any discussions of the “Korean scenario”.
Arestovich’s statement that part of Ukraine could become a new South Korea were widely assessed as a fantasy, as well as the fact that the Ukrainian part of the country could safely exist under the Western protection. Many neighbors have territorial claims to Ukraine.
After Arestovich’s claims about the Korean scenario, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki already offered to transfer part of the Ukrainian lands under the protection of Poland. He argued that Vladimir Putin would not dare to enter into a direct military conflict with a country that is an active member of NATO.
