Former Commander Of US Troops In Afghanistan Says Trump Sold Country To Taliban

Former top commander of US and allied forces in Afghanistan, retired four-star Army General Stanley McChrystal criticized President Trump, saying he “sold Afghanistan to the Taliban” and calling him “dishonest” and “immoral” in an interview with ABC’s This Week on December 30th.

“I don’t think he tells the truth,” he said, answering Co-Anchor Martha Raddatz’ question.

“Is Trump immoral, in your view?” Raddatz asked.

“I think he is,” he said.

He also commented that he couldn’t judge the Trump supporters and tell them “they are wrong.”

He said everybody must look themselves in the mirror and ask themselves a question:

“What I would ask every American to do is … stand in front of that mirror and say, ‘What are we about? Am I really willing to throw away or ignore some of the things that people do that are — are pretty unacceptable normally just because they accomplish certain other things that we might like?’

If we want to be governed by someone we wouldn’t do a business deal with because their — their background is so shady, if we’re willing to do that, then that’s in conflict with who I think we are. And so I think it’s necessary at those times to take a stand.”

The retired general also criticized Trump for not embodying effective leadership:

“The military talks about would they come for you. And what that means is if you’re put into a difficult military situation, would that leader sacrifice himself, put himself and others at risk to come for you? I have to believe that the people I’m working for would do that, whether we disagree on a lot of other things. I’m not convinced from the behavior that I’ve seen that that’s the case here.”

He also had a word of warning for anybody who is to fill the seat left behind by US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. The individual who is to take the post should make sure their values align with those of the President.

“I think maybe it causes the American people to take pause and say, wait a minute, if we have someone who is as selfless and as committed as Jim Mattis resign his position, walking away from all the responsibility he feels for every service member in our forces and he does so in a public way like that, we ought to stop and say, ‘OK, why did he do it?.’”

“I would ask [potential candidates] to look in the mirror and ask them if they can get comfortable enough with President Trump’s approach to governance, how he conducts himself with his values and with his worldview to be truly loyal to him as a commander in chief and going forward,” McChrystal said. “If there’s too much of a disconnect then I would tell him I think it’s — it would be a bad foundation upon which to try to build a successful partnership at that job.”

He disagreed with Trump’s unannounced Christmas visit to Iraq and said that it was needless to politicize a non-political occasion. Trump also signed MAGA Hats, which media even alleged the White House had provided. Trump himself said that they weren’t.

McChrystal also commented on the decision to withdraw troops from Syria, according to him it is a mistake.

“If you pull American influence out, you’re likely to have greater instability and of course it’ll be much more difficult for the United States to try to push events in any direction. There is an argument that says we just pull up our stuff, go home, let the region run itself. That has not done well for the last 50 or 60 years,” McChrystal said.

“I don’t believe ISIS is defeated,” McChrystal said. “I think ISIS is as much an idea as it is a number of ISIS fighters. There’s a lot of intelligence that says there are actually more ISIS fighters around the world now than there were a couple of years ago,” commenting on the reasoning behind the withdrawal that Trump gave.

Furthermore, the retired general commented on the reports that half of the troops from Afghanistan are also to be pulled out. On December 28th, Garrett Marquis, a spokesperson for the National Security Council said Trump “has not made a determination to” to withdraw troops from Afghanistan or “directed the Department of Defense to begin the process of withdrawing” troops. Thus, the reports are unconfirmed.

“I think the great mistake in the president’s leaked guidance is that just when we were starting to sit down with the Taliban, just we were starting to begin negotiations, he basically traded away the biggest leverage point we have. If you tell the Taliban that we are absolutely leaving on a date … their incentives to try to cut a deal dropped dramatically,” McChrystal said.

McChrystal added that the decision could have a lasting impact on the trust in the alliance between the United States and the democratically-elected Afghan government it supports.

“Of course, I was worried about the confidence of the Afghan people because at the end of the day, that’s what determines who wins in Afghanistan,” McChrystal said. “And I think we probably rocked them — we rocked them in their belief that we are allies that can be counted on.”

Trump responded to the comments given by Stanley McChrystal on Twitter with a derogatory, insulting and unconstructive comment:

Mocking his “General” post and calling him a dog, because his assignment was a “total bust.” He is a “Hillary lover!” and is simply known for his “big, dumb mouth.”

President Trump should ignore this LOSER!!!!!. General McDonald’s (whatever the hell his name is) is just one of a long line of losers in a losing, over 17 years long, multi-trillion dollar defeat. So just keep collecting your giant US government pension and disappear, LOSER!

Don’t they teach the relationship between cause and effect at West Point? I thought that was something children learned at around age 7?

Are these US military leaders so bereft of logic that they can’t see the explosion of Wahabist terrorism is a direct result of US invasions and occupation of Islamic countries in the ME?

I can understand some idiot doubling down on stupid once before learning their lesson but it’s been 29 years since the Gulf war and 18 years since the invasion of Afghanistan and still they are trying to put out a fire with dollar bills and gasoline.

“…Are these US military leaders so bereft of logic that they can’t see the explosion of Wahabist terrorism is a direct result of US invasions and occupation of Islamic countries in the ME?”

US presence ALWAYS makes the situation worse, but isn’t really the root cause, GC. The root cause is Saudi Arabia aggressively exporting their degenerate Wahhabi ideology starting in the 80’s. The al Sauds went full-retard after the Iranian revolution, and the U.S. enthusiastically encouraged them for our leader’s own, degenerate ends.

Wahhabi ideology has two goals: 1) make all Sunni obedient to and respect the al Sauds as the de facto leaders of all Arabs, and 2) ensure all Wahhabized Sunni were indoctrinated with a hatred for anything Shia/Iran – so much so that they could justify destroying both in the name of Allah (to the al Saud’s great delight). Some would argue for yet another Wahhabi goal of crushing all political Islamist movements (like Muslim Brotherhood), but that’s because they threaten 1) the power of the al Saud monarchy.

The U.S. troops show up well after the Saudi-funded mosques and madrasa are built and already churning out thousands of extremist haters. We use them, but we really didn’t create them. We simply let them be created, then exploited the situation supposedly to our benefit (with varying degrees of success).

Religion isn’t the only thing, though. If the Taliban ideology and Islam disappeared from Afghanistan tomorrow, the mountains would still be filled with Pashtun perfectly willing to kick the ass of any foreign-imposed government or any foreign army stupid enough to show up.

Afghanistan is their shithole, not ours, and they’re willing to die if necessary, killing every last invader to keep it that way. That’s what the dim-witted DC neocons and their Pentagon lapdogs don’t seem to understand.

I don’t disagree that the Saudi’s are fully culpable in the spread of Whabbist ideology and I agree that the Saudi’s were used and encouraged to help the USA destabilize and contain Iran and the Soviet Union.

I understand using fifth column tactics against an enemy, it’s an age old strategy that been proven to be very effective however here we are 40 years after the Iranian revolution and thirty since the fall of the Soviets and the USA’s staunchest ally is now Saudi Arabia.

The key to using fifth column tactics is knowing when to shut down the operation before it comes back to bite you on the ass. Not only has this contagion bit the USA on the ass but it’s sucked trillions of dollars out of taxpayers pockets and cost millions of lives and ruined hundreds of millions.

My take on the matter is the USA is economically addicted to war and will look for enemies just to keep the spice flowing even if they have to create them themselves. The boom in the 1920’s was spurred by WW1 and then WW2 got the USA out of the Great Depression and IMO they’ve never looked back …. it’s one continuous line of never ending war.

Addiction feeds the drug trade and the drug trade feeds the war on drugs.

The US presence in Islamic countries breeds radicalism and radicalism feeds the war on terror.

The USA crowds and threatens Russia and the Russian response feeds the new cold war. On and on it goes.

“…The key to using fifth column tactics is knowing when to shut down the operation before it comes back to bite you on the ass…”

Neocons somehow mis-understood ‘shut down the operation’ as ‘double down on the operation’. I warned them about moving their lips when they read to enhance their comprehension, but they just won’t listen. I think it’s the fluoride.

You bring up a good point with ‘fifth column tactics’ – they’re meant to destabilize the existing power, not to create a better alternative. Typical psychopath trick of constantly demonizing a perceived enemy, specifically to draw attention away from the failed state and psychopath’s own evil.

McCrystal and anyone involved with Afghanistan are far too dim to understand how COIN works. You have to have a somewhat fair government that serves its people FIRST, then you can worry about the insurgents (if there still are any). It doesn’t work the other way around. If you have an unpopular, corrupt-ass, secretive government (elected or not) that does almost nothing but fight ‘insurgents’, then the people are going to look for a better alternative.

RTFM, generals. You’ll eventually need it for the U.S. – everyone is just God damn tired of hearing about your litany of external ‘threats’ while the Deep State is slowly turning this country into a shithole. When the time comes, everyone knows you’ll eagerly put a bullet in the head of any U.S. patriot to protect ‘the U.S. government’. The world will say we had it coming.

Talking of US Military. Why are they apologising, for telling the truth? Frightened we might cotton on?

US Military Apologizes for Posting Uncomfortably Honest NYE Tweet “Watching the propaganda arm of the US-centralized war machine is a lot like watching a manipulative sociopath learning how to function in normal society”

Caitlin Johnstone

‘…One of the biggest obstacles in getting people to realize how deeply propagandized they are is the cognitive dissonance which comes rushing in when one considers the implications of viewing the world free from the lens of military psychological manipulations. Without the lies about how beneficent and necessary and awesome the military is, all you’ve got is trillions of dollars worth of instruments of death circling the globe to facilitate the daily slaughter of men, women and children to advance agendas of power and profit while ordinary people struggle just to get by in your own country. It can be deeply psychologically uncomfortable to grapple with the reality of what that means for your beliefs about your nation, your society and your very identity, in much the same way realizing you married a manipulative sociopath can be an uncomfortable truth one might feel tempted to compartmentalize away from…’

My view is that the war that McCrystal is trumpeting is a scam based on a scam, the 911 false flag. Which is being promoted by the lying Jew media as part of the Jew’s take over of the US to take over the planet. And that the solution to these problems is planetary extinction grade dejudification to create a much better Jew free world. By outlawing Judaism and closing and demolishing the synagogues and yeshivas so that there are no more Jews.

And that the place to start is by taking down IAF planes attacking Syria with the new SADF S-300s, if they will do the job, to shift the global balance of military power from the US to Russia. As part of breaking the Jews grip on power in the middle east and in the US. And to provide impetus in the US to extinguish Judaism in the US. As part of planetary dejudification. Judaism and Jews are humanity’s number one problem that is causing more trouble than any other problems. Dejudification isn’t a cure all. But it is a big improvement.

“Good news has finally come along for the many people who know office fires cannot bring down modern steel framed skyscrapers, and it’s good news for the rest of the world as well. On April 10th of this year, the non-profit Lawyers Committee for 9-11 Inquiry filed a petition with the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, Manhattan, formally requesting that he present to a grand jury, as a U.S. Attorney, extensive evidence of federal crimes relating to the destruction of three World Trade Center high-rises on 9/11/2001. The petition cites broad and conclusive evidence, providing proof of explosives and incendiaries employed at ground zero to bring down the twin towers and WTC Building 7.(1)”

So a general who couldn’t win a war and who got fired, a rarity these days for American generals, criticizes Trump for making a deal and leaving Afghanistan. Yeah, lets listen to the disgraced guy, he clearly has all the answers. Considering this war has gone one for 17 years with no signs of a win in sight, quite the opposite, anyone willing to entertain the opposite of staying the course/moar war should be lauded, not villified. Even if it unfortunately is the Loud Obnoxious Orange One.

Tommy Jensen

Mr. McChrystal stinks of the Obama administration´s sociopathic hypocrisy, faeces and lies.

Jaime

I can’t believe how stupid some of these generals are. All in all, they are the most disgustingly arrogant and inmoral individuals there are, except for politicians and bankers. The imbecile says that Trump “sold Afghanistan to the Taliban”. Is Afghanistan America’s possession to sell ? Second, the Taliban are Afghans, so they are only taking possession of their own country.
