More than 150 former fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in southern Syria arrived to the northern al-Suwayda countryside on October 4 in order to participate in the ongoing military operation of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) against ISIS cells in the area of al-Safa, according to the al-Suwayda 24 blog.

The Syria-based blog said that the fighters are commanded by “Samer al-Hamed,” a former field commander of the FSA in the eastern Daraa countryside. Another batch of 350 fighters will reportedly arrive in al-Suwayda in the upcoming days.

Thousands of FSA fighters in the eastern Daraa countryside joined the reconciliation agreement in June 2018. Later, these fighters supported the SAA operation against the ISIS-affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army in the western Daraa countryside neturlizing the group within ten days only.

The participation of these experienced fighters will boost the SAA operation in al-Safa, which witnessed several setbacks during the last few weeks.

I’m sure they are experienced fighters, I’m also sure they feel no obligation to coordinate or take orders from the SAA.

Terry Lawrence

Actually they have a strong motivation to redeem themselves and integrate with the winning side as part of a general amnesty of former “rebels”, many of whom either had genuine grievances against the Assad government or were misled by by religious zealots. Having lost their war their best bet is to make themselves useful to the SAA as they transition back toward civilian life. Better to be honourably discharged from the SAA than a surrendered “terrorist” when you are applying for a job in a year or two.

Ha.

Nice to see syrias countrymen contributing to the security of their neighbours instead of taking arms and shooting around at syrias defenders.

Bravo.

I thought all there were Syrians and defended their preferred version of it.

Actually the groups were divided into (1) Syrian Patriots and (2) stooges, lackeys and useful idiots of the Zionist New World Order. Fortunately, the men of god backed by their orthodox brothers temporarily defeated the armies of the Beast.

You might have forgotten how Turks got half of the provinces of Aleppo, Raqqa Diabykir and one more.

I wont name Hatey because I have to send opium to all too.

Has the dollar has lost its luster? or are these fighters, much like the Iraqis, sick of waiting around for US forces to actually do something constructive for Syria and its people.

Let’s hope these ‘moderate’ terrorists remember who’s side they are now on, because they seem to have done a fair bit of switching. Personally, if these fighters were coerced into killing their own countrymen by fake Mullahs, then there isn’t much hope for any of them. The Damascus gov’t should in future ensure they all receive critical thinking tuition.
