In its daily briefing on July 22, the Russian Ministry of Defence revealed the number of US-made HIMARSs destroyed in Ukraine. According to the report, four launchers and one transport-loading vehicle of the systems were destroyed from July 5 to July 20.
The report corresponds to the previous claims by the Russian military which were supported by videos showing the destruction of the systems on the front lines in ukraine.
“Of these, two launchers were destroyed in the area of the settlement of Malotaranovka, another HIMARS and a transport-loading vehicle — in the area of Krasnoarmeysk, the fourth launcher — on the eastern outskirts of Konstantinovka, Donetsk People’s Republic.” – the report reads.
The first two HIMARS launchers were destroyed on July 6. LINK On July 17, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had destroyed the third HIMARS multiple rocket-launching system in Ukraine. LINK
The destruction of fourth system was not previously announced and no video confirming the claims was not provided by the Ministry of Defence.
The United States, together with its allies, will give Ukraine more than 20 HIMARS, 12 of them have already been transferred. This was stated by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milli.
Earlier on July 20, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin announced that the United States would send four more HIMARS to Ukraine.

According to US military reporters, no one has ever destroyed HIMARS in combat conditions before. The Russian military was the first to destroy this type of military equipment.
Various US and Ukrainian experts and officials were rather skeptical about the destruction of the launchers. Ukrainian politicians refute Russian Ministry of Defense publications on the destruction of US-made HIMARS. The General Staff of the AFU called Russian videos “fake”.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff army general Mark Milley claimed: “To date, those systems have not been eliminated by the Russians and I knock on wood every time I say something like that,” said Milley.
However, the reasons why Washington and Kiev cannot recognize the losses of modern systems may be a sharp drop in the shares of Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of HIMARS.

The main Russian MLRS is still the Grad BM21 which provides supporting fire.

It’s not that easy to intercept MLRS rockets because they are relatively small and fast, they are fired in barrages and fly on lower trajectory so intercepting systems must be close, but yes it is quite possible for systems like Pantsirs. It’s even easier to intercept HIMARS with ballistic missile/ATACMS (not even supplied to ukraine officially). Again, Russian Iskander is vastly superior to HIMARS ATACMS. Of course something can always make thorough, even Tochka, so HIMARS is certainly a problem but more a nuisance than a ‘game changer,’ ‘wunderwaffe’ or whatever nonsense mainstream media and clueless morons claim to be.
