Israel’s ISI released a fresh satellite image showing positions of the S-300 air defense system supplied by Russia to Syria. According to the released picture, all four S-300 launchers are now erected.

A previous picture from the area taken in February 2019 showed 3 of 4 S-300 launchers erected. Then, sources commenting on this kind of satellite images speculated that it indicated a partial combat readiness of the S-300 system.

Russia supplied this S-300 air defense system to the Syrian military in the second half of 2018 in respnose to hostile Israeli actions towards Russian forces deployed in the war-torn country. Despite this, the system has never been employed.

Is too easy to the IDF…..even a small missile will destroy all launchers……why don´t put them in a wider space???????

Wolfgang Wolf

we dont know if this is a real base… can be mockup as well… dont forget that Syria received 24 launchers in total

alejandro casalegno

Four of twenty four is a BIG loss……..the S-300 are not Pantsyr, they are irreplaceble for Syria……… Better are a fake post……..

I’d like to give you upvote too but Putin doesn’t allow me to use the button yet

I always thought that the idea of mobile SAM’s was that they kept moving, so the enemy couldn’t target them. It seems the Syrians never learned the benefits of the wheel, and like the Americans keep their weapons in fixed positions.

Isn’t Masyaf the training base for S-300 crews? I thought there were Russian techs there teaching them to set up and configure the system. There is no tactical reason to set up mobile launchers side-by-side like that. In fact, it would be pretty stupid. Kind of defeats the purpose of the damn engine and wheels and communication network so they could 1) be moved, and 2) not need to be anywhere near the larger radar(s) or each other.

Israel’s Image Sat Intl. also published the earlier fuzzball imagery of the three launchers erected. The implication was either some kind of imaginary offensive threat to Israel (S-300s – the horror!) or “Look how stupid the Syrians are – we can see their S-300s and they’ll be easy to destroy!”

There’s a lot more Syrian S-300s out there, so if these four are sitting out in the open like this, there’s a good reason for it.

Nobody understand why Syria has S-300 that will never be used against Israel planes. Just see the new Israel attack. Syria is just waiting to see the missile to shot down, but never target an Israel plane at its borders. Isn’t this called masochism behavior ?

The SAA needs to go back to weapons systems it can actually handle; I’m thinking of scimitar-waving mounted cavalry.

Go back to sewer you Hasbara bitch!

Jacob "Wraith" Wohl

that’s too advanced! perhaps wooden spears would be a great start for them

It’s a decoy.

Could be, but I think the Russians have deployed their S-400 TELs the same way.

If Syria is confident of of their short-range defenses (Pantsirs) ability to protect the S-300 but doesn’t have enough Pantsirs, this may be a good option. Not sure if this group of TELs qualifies as a formal fire battalion (by Russian practices), but there were “49 pieces” of the S-300 delivered to Syria, so this might be the minimum configuration. Two or three Pantsirs would be a lot more effective protecting a group of the TELs and radars like this rather than trying to spread everything out and only being able to protect a few essential pieces.

Still don’t understand all the excitement about whether a TEL has its tubes up or not. That doesn’t really mean it’s either operational or deployed. In any case, Masyaf might be the permanent siting for Syria’s S-300. While everyone would like to see Syria blow away a few Israeli jets over Lebanon, that wouldn’t be a long-term obstacle for Israel. Maybe Syria has decided to protect its missile manufacturing facilities better around Masyaf rather than wasting S-300s on a feel-good IAF shootdown when that buys Syria little in a strategic sense.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Spot on, they’re never ever deployed like this, which means they’re not really deployed and operational yet.

Leon

Why would Israel destroy those S300 ? Putin doesn’t allow Syria to use them.

Decoys…

lol you’ll be salty soon

wwinsti

We don’t know all the targets that were hit in tonight’s raid from Israhell. It wouldn’t surprise me if these launchers (assuming they’re real) were on the hit list.

Israeli Electronic Warfare > Russian Electronic Warfare Israeli Air-To-Ground Missiles > Syrian Air Defense Missiles Israeli Airforce > Russkie/Syrian Airforces

Jacob "Wraith" Wohl

Syrian S-300s launched multiple missiles at Israeli F-16s/F-15s over the Mediterranean but were completely JAMMED by IAF electronic warfare and flew off course, 1 landing in Cyprus!

Jacob "Wraith" Wohl

Russkie GPS jamming also affected Syrian air defense missiles causing them to malfunction!

Russia´s soft position towards Israeli bombing Syria, true words.
