France denies the entrance of about a thousand refugees

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve

According to declarations given by the French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve while visiting Strasbourg on Saturday, after the multiple attacks in Paris that left 130 dead and about 350 injured, the country has denied the entry of nearly a thousand refugees to its territory.

The French official said that the decision was taken as part of a series of measures to strengthen border controls for public order and security of the country.

It’s important to mention that the measure was taken in the proximity of the COP21 United Nations climate talks to take place in Paris on Monday.

Since Paris terrorist attacks, restrictions over the entrance of asylum seekers coming from the Middle East and Africa have stepped-up.

Also, Islamophobia-related crimes have increased dramatically, from about 5 incidents per week to 32 just on last week according to Abdallah Zekri, head of France’s National Observatory of Islamophobia.
