On September 1, France warned Niger’s military rulers, who overthrew President Mohamed Bazoum last July, that it will respond to any attack against its military and diplomatic facilities in the West African country.
“The French army is ready to respond to any renewed tension that would target French military and diplomatic facilities in Niger,” the French General Staff told Anadolu in a written statement.
“The soldiers have been limited in their activities to the air base in Niamey and the outposts since July 26, as the military partnership with Nigerien Armed Forces has been suspended,” the statement also read.
The military takeover in Niger created tensions with France, which maintained support for its ally Bazoum. On August 25, the military-appointed Foreign Ministry gave French Ambassador Sylvain Itte 48 hours to “leave Nigerien territory.”
French President Emmanuel Macron said on August 28 that Itte will not leave Niger, despite the expiration of the junta’s deadline for his departure.
It’s worth noting that up to 1,500 French troops are stationed in Niger, which was a major partner of the French in the Sahel region.
In response to Macron’s statement, the Nigerien military canceled the visa of the French ambassador and instructed police to expel him
In the letter shared by local media on August 31, the Nigerien Foreign Ministry said that “the diplomatic cards and the visas of the concerned person and the members of his family are canceled. The police services have been instructed therefore to proceed with his expulsion.” The decision taken regarding the ambassador’s accreditation is “irrevocable,” the ministry added in the letter.
A wave of anti-French sentiment followed the military takeover in Niger, with some locals accusing the European country of interfering in their affairs.
France has already voiced its support efforts by the Economic Community of West African States to launch a military intervention in the country. Its recent warning to the country’s military rulers may be a part of a plan to create a pretext for a direct intervention.
dam, looks like we will have another conflict on africa.
once again nazi west show their true colors they are nothing but nazi thugs stealing all of niger’s resources and keeping niger down economically, well not anymore nazi france are finished and niger will prosper and surge forward in wealth and prosperity for their citizens, nazi france only wants the uranium and gold and other resources that is why they won’t leave until forced out by niger military =z=
if by “nazi west” you mean judeo-bolsheviks and neocohens, then you’re right.
no, he means anglo-americans. jews are it’s vassals and stooges, always have been, always will be.
they may be in higher places than most, but they’re still stooges for all to see, zelensky being a prime example of that,
@nato is desperate & @m.paraplu …. no i mean those nazi western nation governments (not so much the people in most cases) supporting a nazi regime in ukraine those very same nazi western nation governments are the ones raping african countries for their resources, nazi france take all the gold and uranium and other resources and then give back to niger around 20% worth in money. niger wealth is niger and niger only =z=
well, france doesn’t really have the say in this. they have limited assets in the region. the niger military could overrun them in a matter of hours before help is received, and france wouldn’t be able to respond fast enough as algiers lybia etc won’t allow their airspace to be used. furthermore, the ecowas haven’t assembled a strong enough military force for a full intervention.
look how arrogant are these frenchie aristocrats, bankster and corporate fu_ks. they have been told that their “diplomatic” (read colony overseeing office) mission is not wellcome and immediately they threaten war.
exactly my thoughts. little arrogant bunch of pussies.
that’s so called eu democracy. demon-cracy by force. these french pigs should receive an another dien bien phu lesson. stupid pommes-frittes frog eaters. clean africa of french infestation!
just try it nazi french and see what happens to your 1,000 nazi soldiers they will be hanged in the streets if they try and use force against niger citizens and military and police. =z=
boli vyzvaní aby opustili niger? boli!!! tak teraz by ich mali zasiahnuť jedným jediným zdrvujúcim úderom, aby sa nedokázali brániť a aby sa z toho útoku nespamätali. okupantov treba likvidovať!!! mor ho!!! svetu mier!!!
the french must hang on to everything they are looting…how many superior races can there be
typical imperialist power, not respecting the sovereignty of niger.
that “diplomat” must literally be soiling his pants. france would presumably have aerial supremacy, but as far as i know, wagner has su-24s and 25s, probably no match against rafales, but there were rumors that wagner planned to buy su-34s (see defensemirror story on 24 april), that would be another story. mind you, that was before prighozin’s death, so who knows.
and what the trumbling frances military is going to do? invade the much more powerful algerian airspace to attack niger? try to (and failing) to launch a griund assault from nigeria? oh please, just accept your irrelevance in the world stage macron
macron and his country will be freezing to death in the winter before their fingers thaw out enough for them to be any kind of a threat to the niger military government. macron needs niger uranium for france’s nuclear power plants which they have stolen from niger’s people.
fk-ing frogs
another dien bien phu for french pigs is comming. fu.ck.in.g shi..t.
not france. but macron people
ahhh, but who voted him into power? it’s the same throughout the west. we don’t want them (liars, criminals, traitors) either, but here they are. how do the people keep returning them to power? at least the french people stand up, while others cry.
