Free Syrian Army Launches Counterattack Against Government Forces In Suweida Countryside

Syrian troops are in the Homs countryside

On Friday the Free Syrian Army (FSA), backed by the US-led coalition, launched its counterattack on positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) north of the Zuluf reserve in the northern Suweida countryside, according to opposition sources.

Opposition sources claimed that the FSA managed to destroy two battle tanks of the SAA and a Gvozdika artillery piece, but it seems that the FSA was unable to make gains.

Yeseterday, a spokesman for Maghawir al-Thawra announced that the FSA with the support of US-led coalition warplanes will launch a large attack on the SAA in the Syrian desert in Homs and Damascus to regain lost positions. However, many experts doubt that such an attack could occur, especially after a confirmation of the presence of Russian military advisers along with SAA troops in the area.

Since its entry into the Al-Tanf area, the FSA has repeatedly attacked the SAA despite claims that the FSA was deployed there to fight ISIS.

It is believed that the SAA is currently planning to follow up its advance in the Zulf reserve towards Tal Safa in the western direction. The SAA may allso advance towards the Zulf.

Yesterday, the SAA captured a large area during a quick attack on all ISIS positions between Palmyra and eastern Qalamoun, isolating Jaish al-Islam in east Qalamoun from the FSA in Al-Tanf.

the US air force has not attacked Syrian Arab Army deliberately, each time it was *mistakes* like in Deir Ez-Zor in september 2016. no way the US army would attack directly and openly the Syrian Arab Army.

Andrew Pate

Yeah pull the other one. Nothing that the US does is an accident that has not been well planned before hand, the only way of an accident is when they kill their own as in friendly fire.

Pastèqye

1. it was sarcasm. *of course* the Us air force attacked the Syria Army on purpose in September 2016. 2. yet, i still believe that the Us will not attack Syrian Arab Army directly, frontally like the Russian aerospatiale forces attack moderated terrorists since 30th September 2015. the Us limit itself to skirmishes only, even if it can be disastrous for the Syrian Arab Army like Deir Ez-Zor in september 2016.

More

Pastèqye Each and every “mistake” by the US led “Terror Axis” results in the immediate launch of an IS Islamic State pre-planned attack on the Syrian Military in that area.

AMHants

I do love sarcasm and satire.

Ivanus59

Did you miss the news when okay fired about 70 Hellfire missiles at a SAAf base? Looks like you did.

Pastèqye

unless you didn’t notice, it was a one shot attack by the Donald. the US Marines (LOL) have not landed in Syria. here some food for thought. http://www.voltairenet.org/auteur29.html?lang=en i recommend you to learn his papers. http://www.voltairenet.org/article196200.html http://www.voltairenet.org/article195904.html

Ma_Laoshi

Don’t the orcs provide artillery support for the battle or Raqqa? If so, they did land in Syria. The Empire’s greatest victory is how we all (very much including the Kremlin) have internalized exceptionalism–we’re no longer batting an eye at developments which should be hair-raising.

EL ZORRO

“FREE SYRIAN ARMY LAUNCHES COUNTERATTACK AGAINST GOVERNMENT FORCES IN SUWEIDA COUNTRYSIDE”…TRANSLATION…UNITED STATES FUNDED, TRAINED, ARMED AND RECRUITED INTERNATIONAL MERCENARY TERRORISTS, launches counterattack against the forces of the legitimate and sovereign government of Syria in SUWEIDA Countryside.

NeoLeo

Exactly… so-called ‘FSA’ -not ‘Free’ not ‘Syrian’ and not an ‘Army’.

PZIVJ

I think the spokesman for Maghawir al-Thawra is dreaming. Is this FSA operation called “Desert Retreat” ?

Mountains

They will attack due to the oil and gas reserves. The US is fully commited to this. Welcome to POST-ISIS world.. Resources struggle.

AMHants

So is Russia and of course Syria. It will be a fight to the end, whatever the cost.

Ma_Laoshi

I don’t doubt the Syrians’ commitment–it’s their country. Russia’s commitment is suggested, but has never been demonstrated. Frankly it’d be better if no demonstration were needed, because the US is a bit unhinged of late and if Americans or precious, precious jews get killed there’s no telling what they will do. That’s why I regret that no deterring “hands off Syria” message has *ever* been delivered when say Turkey gets out of line.

John Whitehot

Russian commitment in Syria is higher than US one, that’s one thing for sure.

Besides, if the US and its coalition were really committed, they would be bombing ISIS along with Russia and Syria, not scheming what kind of backstab or betrayal they could put up in order to remove Assad.

Ma_Laoshi

The first question would be “committed to what?” If the US are committed to destabilizing Israel’s unloved neighbour, they’re doing just fine. If they’re committed to seizing Syria’s oil, they may need to dial it up a notch. If Russia is committed to stopping the latter, it may require to send a few Americans to–do those swine even get virgins?

John Whitehot

committed to act according to what has been publicly declared as priority and motive.

Jesus

FSA is dreaming thinking they will get air support from US to attack SAA. I got a better suggestion, why does not the FSA, and US, UK and Norwegian special forces fight a ground war against the Russian special forces, IRCG, Hezbollah and SAA, duking it out in the desert? Keep aircraft and helicopters on the ground on both sides. Of course US and the whimp cohort will not do this, since this would be terribly bloody and replete with stacks of corpses, they will try to figure out something sneaky to gain some temporary advantage on a tactical level while loosing out on the strategic outcome.

Thegr8rambino

like the idiots they arelol

Gary Sellars

Counterattack? No problem, come and die, FSA maggot-ridden filth….

Bill Wilson

Looks like the dimwit SAA units are doing the dying.

Thegr8rambino

what happened to u man? i thought u were on our side here

That Guy

That doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t be realist.

Thegr8rambino

It sounds like he just doesn’t like or want SAA to win anymore

PZIVJ

When SAA started to make good progress against US backed FSA, He changed his tune right away (Bill is now a US troll, he is now calling people “F**KING stupid” and all that).

Thegr8rambino

seems like it, its unfortunate really, i miss his detailed analysis of things :((

Ma_Laoshi

This is not a sports match, “want” clouds thinking and loses wars. Anyway it’s not like we are in charge, so what’s the harm.

Bob

He’s American, and now that Trump has gone all in with GCC against Iran, meaning US has again sold its bodyguard services to GCC in form of another massive arms sales to Saudi’s deal, he’s gone all anti Iran, Syria and Hezbollah.

Thegr8rambino

I’m american too but will never buy into that crap

Solomon Krupacek

you are migrant in america

Bob

Saudi’s basically just signed up to Trump for $200 billion – $100 billion in ‘investments’ in US economy housing sector and $100 billion in US hardware arms sales. KSA need USA desperately and Trump’s rhetoric left them nervous about future with one option, offer masses of cash for continued US support. Trump took it as this will allow Trump to politically look like creating jobs when that $100 billion filters into economy and housing-building sector, but for Trump is hard edged business deal not a friendship. The anti-Iran rhetoric is all part of this development as is the absurd Saudi anti terror coalition which is really just an anti Iran coalition.

Gabriel Hollows

Hopefully there will be US special forces and warplanes in the attack, so that Russian spetsnaz and S-400 can blow them the fuck out.

MeMadMax

Yea, this “counter -attack” was doomed from the start. Guess what happens when you emergency-train a whole bunch of guys to go to war in two days?

Alot of dead emergency-trained guys in two days….

Thegr8rambino

crush these FSA trash into the ground like the maggot SCUM they are SAA!!!!
