Gaza Ceasefire Brings Clashes On Israeli-Lebanese Border To Halt

The temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which began on November 24, has brought clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border to a halt.

Hezbollah has indicated it will hold its fire in the next four days of the ceasefire in Gaza, though it was not part of the deal mediated by Qatar. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has not given any indication whether it will avoid targeting Hezbollah during this time.

“A precarious calm reigned on the southern border, with the humanitarian truce in Gaza coming into effect at 7 a.m.,” Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, an IDF spokesman confirmed to AFP that there have been no subsequent incidents or firing so far across the Lebanon border.

Hezbollah and its allies, including the Hamas Movement and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, have been carrying out daily attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from southern Lebanon since the outbreak of the war in Gaza on October 7.

On November 23 alone, at least 22 direct and indirect fire attacks targeted IDF sites, equipment and troops along the border with Lebanon.

So far, the clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border have claimed the lives of six IDF troops, three Israeli civilians, 84 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, one fighter from the Lebanese Resistance Regiments, seven fighters from the Hamas Movement, four fighters from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and 12 Lebanese civilians.

Hezbollah and its allies will most likely resume attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon once the temporary ceasefire in Gaza is over.
