On the night of October 5, Russian drones hit a military facility in the town of Bila Tserkva in the Kiev region. The attack was confirmed by the Kiev regional State Administration.
The military unit of the 72nd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was reportedly hit by Russian suicide UAVs. The facility was used for formation of military units and training of mobilized Ukrainian servicemen.
According to the head of the Kiev regional military administration Alexei Kuleba, the attack was carried out by Iranian-made Shahed-136 UAVs which were rebranded as Russian Geranium-2.
Explosions were heard in the town and eyewitnesses filmed the large fire that broke out in the facility. By the morning, the destruction of the unit was confirmed.
According to the Kiev authorities, there were no victims as a result of the attack. The rescue operation continues. Kiev is unlikely to reveal the real number of casualties.
Alexei Kuleba noticed that a total of six strikes and explosions were recorded. His claims confirm that the Russian military is now striking Ukrainian military facilities with swarms of suicide drones. Previously, they simultaneously used two or three Geranium UAVs to hit targets in Odessa.
The attack also revealed the weakness of Ukrainian air defense systems. The Kiev region is the most protected by Ukrainian air defense systems, but the Geranium-2 UAVs went unnoticed.
This is the first strike of Russian Geranium-2 UAVs carried out far from from the front lines. The suicide UAVs proved their effectiveness for attacks on the targets located 60 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital Kiev. Previously, the Geranium-2 UAVs struck military facilities and military equipment in the Odessa, Kharkov and other war-torn regions.
The attack is a reminder for the Kiev regime that the Russian military can hit targets in the capital, including the decision-making centers. However, so far, there were only a few such precise strikes that targeted the Ukrainian top military command.

There are more parameters to take into account than speed and noise. Frame, weight, range, price…
Piston engine propeller aircraft can reach speeds up to around 800KMH / 500MPH (there are problems with supersonic flight due to the speed of the propellor tips causing them to break up, in jet engines the design ensures the airflow over the fans is always subsonic) and this drone flies at a quarter of that speed, reaching nearly 200KMH, so there would also be plenty of room for improvement in that regard without using a jet engine.

Part of these drones’ effectiveness is due to their relatively low speed and low flight altitude (they don’t hug the ground). Air defence systems -if manage to detect them at all- perceive them as background and scatter noise.
Their cousins also proved their worth against NATO air defence systems in Saudi territory.

Russia should have destroyed the retreating enemy army, not only “demilitarize” it.
