UPDATE: German Leopard 2A4 tank was destroyed during the battles near Rabotino last week. The tank was hit by two anti-tank guided missiles and two small FPV drones. As a result, the crew could not leave the tank and burned down in it. The position and the damaged tank were captured by Russian fighters.
Russian servicemen showed an abandoned German Leopard 2A4 with the Kontakt-1 dynamic protection units installed on the anti-cumulative grid. Servicemen of the Russian 71st Regiment of the 42nd Division of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District continue hunting for the NATO ‘cats’ in the Zaporozhie region.
According to the reports, the tank was filmed in the area of Orekhov. The vehicle was abandoned by Ukrainian soldiers together with their dead comrade. According to the comments of the Russian operator, the remains of a burned-out Ukrainian driver were found inside the vehicle. The front hatch got jammed shut or even welded from outside.

The Ukrainian military has to strengthen the protection of German tanks before sending them to the frontlines. The Kontakt-1 dynamic protection units are installed on the turret and sides of the armored vehicle because the German protection is insufficient against the fire of Russian anti—tank weapons.

a jammed front hatch would probably not trap the driver by itself because in most tanks they can also get back into the turret area and there is a hatch in the floor behind the driver, but it would make exit slower. i couldn’t find any definite confirmation on leopard 2a4 driver exit routes from a quick search online though.
they weld the escape hatches shut, so the cannon fodder meatheads can’t abandon their tanks. otherwise, the russians would have every leopard that dumb cluck scholz sent them.
