An informed source from Syrian Interior Ministry reported that “Syrian trucks and mobile refrigerators are allowed to pass through Jordan to the Arabian Gulf Countries with no need to use Jordanian vehicles.”

The source explained that the interior minister, General Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmon, agreed during a phone call with his Jordanian counterpart Mazen al-Faraya on the joint coordination to facilitate the transit of goods and passengers between the two countries.

According to the source “ it was agreed that Syrian public cars are allowed to enter the Jordanian territory for the convenience of passengers’ movement between the two countries, in addition to allowing Jordanian public cars to enter the Syrian territory; the thing which facilitates citizen’s travel is that they will not be compelled to take another car for the movement between Syria and Jordan.”

The source notified that health restrictions against corona virus at the borders between the two countries would not be lifted; still, passengers must have a PCR test or a confirmation of having a COVID-19 vaccination.

The source has considered that the mutual facilitation will increase the movement rate of both passengers and goods at the Syrian-Jordanian borders. However, it notified that borders would not be completely open because of the COVID-19 risks as it is the case in the whole world.

However, it was reported that a number of goods-loaded trucks have already stuck at Nassib-Jaber border crossing because of the delay in the process of entering by the Jordanian side. This resulted that a number of Syrian merchants called for finding a solution for the problematic issue of the crossing and facilitate goods movement.
