On Friday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies captured the Dahrat al-Arid area and the Watid hill in the southeastern Damascus countryside near the Syrian-Jordanian border, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria. The size of the newly captured area is 200 square kilometers.
The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) intensified its bombing campaign against the US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in the Damascus desert during the last few days.
SAA units in the southeastern Damascus countryside are now advancing towards its positions in al-Jarin mount in order to secure the entire eastern Damascus desert.
On August 22, two leaders of Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiya “Rami Hamid al-Kmari” and “Ahmad Hassan al-Jarad” were killed in a Syrian airstrike.

On August 23, US-backed Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiya claimed that its fighters destroyed two tanks of the SAA with ATGMs in the eastern As-Suwayda countryside. Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiya also claimed that they repelled a SAA attack. These claims are likely untrue.
Moreover, Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiya accused the SyAAF of attempting to kill its captured pilot, Ali Hilwah, to avoid the prisoner exchange deal. However, pro-government sources denied these claims.
