Syrian government forces have launched a fresh military operation in the northern part of Latakia province, targeting Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and its allies in the directions of Al-Tufahiea and Tardeen.
Pro-government sources report that the Syrian army and the Marines have already acheieved some ‘strategic successes’ and destroyed 2 battle tanks belonged to militants. However, this cannot be confirmed by evidence from the ground.
Main clashes are ongoing in Jabal Hasan al-Ra’i.
