Government forces, led by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces, have reportedly liberated the villages of Kharbet Khazraf, Al-Boaajouz and Al-Fareia from ISIS terrorists in the province of Aleppo. The liberated villages are located east of the ISIS stronghold of Maskanah.
The Russian Aerospace Forces have been supporting the Tiger Forces push east of Maskanah. According to local sources, Russian warplanes have delivered up to 30 airstrikes on ISIS targets in the eastern part of the Aleppo province.
Progress is not very impressive. This can be do to not very impressive strategy or luck of manpower and military hardware or the SAA tiger force run out of steam. Just for comparison, if such speed or strategy has been apply in WW2 or Desert Storm we would still have those wars going on to this days
I agree its slow by WW2 or Six Day War standards, but the idea is to grind ISIS’s capability so much that the only thing they can do is to run backwards.

The Kurds have better leadership, less corruption hampering them and better troop motivation. That allows them to take more risk on the battlefield. Let us not forget that before the civil war the Syrian army ranked barely above the Saudi army in military ineptitude.
All things combined the SAA has to make do with what it still has and with severe limitations in mind. To expect Blitzkrieg or Air/Land battle from them is stretching it.

I’m really sick and tired of all the doubting and trash talk by people like you about the SAA and how slow it is. Sure, I would love for it to be faster too, I bet all of us here would, but we aren’t actually there physically on the ground. We may be in spirit, but SAA generals and commanders I’m sure have their reasons. Maybe they have smarter strategies than us, maybe they dont want to just throw all their men and machinery head first into battle with no plan and hope for the best. This is the most crucial time in the war yet, they are retaking so much so this kind of trash talk is just so unnecessary and a waste of time
