The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and allied units of the Free Syrian Army [switched to the government side earlier] repelled a large attack by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in southern Syria, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides in Syria said in a statement on June 25.
“Over the past 24 hours, in the southern de-escalation zone the militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra (terror group, outlawed in Russia) attacked the settlements, which had voluntarily switched to the legitimate government’s side. The government forces jointly with the formation of the Free Syrian Army repelled the terrorists’ offensive with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces,” the state-run news agency TASS quoted the statement.
According to the statement, pro-govenrment forces killed up to 70 militants and destroyed 3 armored vehicles and 14 pickups carrying the heavy machine guns. The Center added that there were no casualties among SAA servicemen.
The Center added that FSA members in 12 settlements switched their side and joined government forces. These settlements are Al Toubba, Khabab, Khirbat Al Msap, Jerfi, Asem, Sheikh Gharbiya, Sheikh Sharki, Al Shumariya, Hirbat az Zababir, Deir-Dama, Al Shiyakh and Jadel.
The Russian military has allegedy started preparing to deliver humanitarian aid to liberated areas in southern Syria.
Meanwhile, the SAA and the Tiger Forces entered the village of Busra al-Harir northeast of the city of Daraa. However, they have not been able to establish control of the town. If Busra al-Harir is liberated, the entire area north of it will be cut off from the rest of the militant-held part of the province of Daraa and will likely be liberated soon.

I was under the impression HTS was all but useless here with only a handful of fighters and no heavy weapons, never mind, they won’t be here for long, bye bye. Bomb them into oblivion.
HTS controls around 35% of the green zone in Daraa and Quneitra. It’s the takfiri group that controls more territory there.
Not since January this year they haven’t, it’s probably gone down to less than 5% of both the territories, probably more like 3% and that was in Daraa. They currently have 7,000 to 10,000 fighters in Syria in total and that’s the official estimate from 2 months ago. With all the defeats they’ve had in Aleppo and Idlib, fighting both the SAA and the FSA, as well as the continual Russian bombardments and the growing number of assassinations, I doubt that official figure is 7,000 to 10,000 anymore, I’ll bet a few thousand have been shaved off in the last 2 months. The last estimates were that HTS had only between 500 to a thousand fighters left here at all, and I suspect that’s why the areas fell so quickly to the SAA. They haven’t had any real fighting here for nearly 12 months so the bulk of their fighters would be in Idlib and Aleppo where they’re fighting for their lives. Even if we take the max estimate of 10’000, I don’t think they’d have any more than 10% of them tied up here when they’ve been needed elsewhere. I don’t think we’ll see too much more from HTS, they can’t bus in recruits from elsewhere. The fact they’re begging the FSA [who they’re fighting elsewhere] to coordinate with them says it all.

SF is not the best for relaying info correctly so don’t rely on them for your data. That 40% is misleading, it seems to imply that HTS is the bulk of the force fighting here when in fact they’re now one of the smallest groups here. The FSA make up probably 70% or more of the forces the the SAA will be fighting here, maybe 5000 fighters, and the rest are made up of 4 or 5 Arab militias, a couple of thousand fighters at most, 2 crappy anti Assad Druse militias a few hundred, and as I said and still believe, only 500 to a 1000 HTS here at most. We’ll get the stats in a few days and know for sure anyway, lets see what the numbers really are then. That article you referred to is one of the best examples of either intentional or ignorant reporting and why I, and I also suggest you, shouldn’t rely on them for accurate and honest info. Reread that article you referred to me, and then compare it to a few others you can find on exactly the same event in the same timeframe, you’ll see exactly why I say misleading. Actually you probably don’t even have to look at other sites, the next SF article will probably, correctly this time, tell you that the FSA is the bulk of the force that’s occupying that 40% of the territory, not HTS as that moronic article implied.
