On January 12, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces, backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces, resumed their operations around the strategic Abu Duhur airbase in the eastern Idlib countryside and captured the villages of al-Hamidiyat, Hamidiyat al-Shadad and Aljakia east of the airbase, according to the pro-government blog al-Masdar News.
Earlier, the SAA and its allies were able to fully repel an attack by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on their positions in southeastern Idlib. Pro-government sources confirmed that the SAA recaptured the villages of Mushayrifah, Umm Khalakhil and Ard al-Zurzur from the militant groups on January 12.

Meanwhile, the Hezbollah media wing in Syria reported that the SAA continued its advance in the Mount Hass area in southwestern Aleppo and captured the villages of Umm Ankash, Jubb Intash Fawqani, Burj Hussain Daher, Tell Sum’a, Jubb Intash Tahtani, al-Suhur, al-Hardanah, Rasm al-Amaysh, al-Salihiyah, Hawayir al-Hass, al-Assadiyah, al-Nibaui and Jubb al-A’ma.

From its side, HTS and its allies once again started withdrawing from their positions east, northeast, and north of the Abu Duhur airbase. However, observers believe that the militant groups may launch another counter-attack soon.
Good. I was a bit worried about the flanks; HTS on the left and IS on the right. But it seems they cant make enough fist to really harm SAA. ?✌

Without the RuAF, we would still be looking at a stalemate(because assad would still be receiving military aid from russia/iran/lebanon etc).
You also forget conveniently the US and the coalition prior to the 2015 intervention they all had unfettered access to the skies with no worries of being intercepted and destroyed. If the US/Coalition hadn’t violated sovereign airspace there would have been no stalemate, as the Islamist factions had no ability to continue there war in 2013 and survive to current times without that happening.
What is really telling is why are the SAA air Force discounted in these attacks as the Russians can’t be everywhere, and stop making them sound like supermen which they are not. This gives an inflated sense to them as they will attest their counterparts are just as amazing and not propaganda nonsense either. This war cannot be won in the air alone so saying these things not very accurate, this is a combined barrage of Air power and Artillery along with missile barrages.

We forget these Islamic extremists and those are all the factions were crippled in 2013 and losing the war and Obama had decide to run the secret funding operation and then overtly support this extremists. There were many studies released already contrary to the Western Media portrayal of “moderates” “secularists” which none of the groups were. They looked at only 3 because they had somewhat moderate Islamist beliefs and hated democracy still as the others did.
Russia joining was good since Iran doesn’t have the ability to counter NATO air power. Thing was many NATO nations only stopped bombing in Syria in 2016 and they were not happy about being ordered to target infrastructure and hospitals. Yet we will not hear any word being repeated in the Media constantly, which is sad.

The sad thing it was the pilots of some western nations were refusing to bomb these types of buildings anymore. They say guilt gets to a person and if any of these slightest facts start surfacing the people will cry for the heads of the military and all involved. Things like that type of scandal damages the military and the government. What happened was they weaseled out claiming burnout and aging military equipment.
There was a time, pre-Sept. 2015, when aircraft from certain nations had a free rein.
