On September 9, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Desert Hawks Brigade, the Syrian Marines and and Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) started a full-scale advance on Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Jabhat Al Nusra) and Jaish al-Fatah terrorists in the Syrian provicne of Latakia. The advance was massively supported by airstrikes of Russian and Syrian warplanes. Local sources report that the joint air raids have hit up to 60 terrorist targets since the start of operation.
The loyalists captured a group of villages in northeastern and northwestern parts of the province and finished the day with pushing the terrorist alliance from the strategic Al-Ra’i Mountains. The control of Al-Ra’i Mountains allows the pro-government forces to overlook the countryside of Idlib province and the strategic village of Kabani.
If the Syrian government forces decide to continue wide-scale operations in the area, Kabani is the most expected target. If the village is seized, the loyalists will need to consolidate the gains before launching further advances.

The SAA should finally free the western oart of juhadist territory (on map): sraf, nawara, sallur, salaba … the jihadist never enter from turkey direct to territory contrtolled by government forces. always go in jihadist controlled part os syria. Such the SAA coulf have shorter front line. Important from both tactical and strategical reasons.
