On Sunday, pro-government forces continued their advance against US-backed factions of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) in southeastern Syria.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies liberated seized the important height of Tal Najjar and established a fire control over the nearby area.

On Saturday, SAA-led forces captured the Um Izn hills east of the FSA-held pocket in the eastern desert.

These advances allow government forces to increase their control over the eastern Syrian border and create condictions for further operations in the area.

Rob

These guys are completely untrained. They must protect themselves behind fortification and they shouldn’t stand to expose themselves to terrorists.

RichardD

They’re getting the job done. They deserve credit for that.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They are shooting downhill and wouldn’t be exposed to so much fire as you would assume, but they should shoot slightly higher and then they will take in the account for bullet drop.

Cheryl Brandon

Indeed but., they have the intent/the determination and the moral majority behind them and Russia is helping 100%

Jordan Katz

Why don’t they close up that pocket on the bottom left side of the map? Im sick of looking at it. Quite the eye-sore.

RTA (Bob or Al)

Slowly slowly, catch the monkey.

Solomon Krupacek

fast, fast cach yanks the hunter.

Solomon Krupacek

they hope, fsa will retreat. but the saa generals are so stupid, they did not learn, isis has fear of be besieged, fsa/nusra love beeing in pockets.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

That has been cleared a couple of times it is just has now value as there are no FSA in the region, even the FSA know it’s a death trap for them to go into.

The Farney Fontenoy

Small progress, but progress none the less, keep it up lads!

dutchnational

They gain a few kms2 in an almost empty desert, a piece of land without any real strategic value, while to the north they lose their most important supply line to DeZ city and the wider region.

Their choice of course.

I just would have thought that at this time DeZ was a little bit more important.

However, my more favorite SDF will use any lack of insight of SAA to gain their region back from IS before it can be occupied by SAA.

RTA (Bob or Al)

May I say, seldom in my relatively long life have I come across a total waste of space like you.

May all Kurds who turn their back on Syria for the sake of sucking the Yanks butt-hole rot in hell.

bob balluga

chill out mofucka, he right, SAA should be focusing more on Deir Ez-Zor province

Gregory Louis

WTF…are you guys on about the SAA has sent more manpower to Deir-Er-Zour then any other front the people here are Hezbolla, the NDF and the SAA. Not even there elite of the elite

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They are still good fighters just fight using their best tactics and simple but effective.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Sound like a crackhead good choice in photo suits your stupidity and comment.

bob balluga

Bad grammar, your the crackhead, not me.

RTA (Bob or Al)

You must have missed the taking of most of the city, the river crossings and the elimination of your ISIS vermin.

IS Mofucka a type of coffee ?.

bob balluga

My isis vermin? Wat the fuck? You a dumb mofucka.

RTA (Bob or Al)

I was talking as a pro-Syrian, pro-Assad, pro-Russian Englishman.

DZ + Euphates. Numb nuts, get a brain before you comment

PS Your original comment was “chill out mofucka, he right, SAA should be focusing more on Deir Ez-Zor province”

bob balluga

“Euphrates”, learn to spell before you comment.

Ronald

Kurds are a long way south of “their region” , starting a scrap with the SAA is not positive for them or the rest of the country .

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The two FSA groups are in this area of operation and have been reticent in joining the US as they can’t bring themselves to harm civilians like the Kurds do and the FSA mercs do for the US. The SAA is securing its border and possibly open up a road that hasn’t been used since 2010 or later.

The As Soukhna – Deir Ezzor Highway is safe , they are mopping up the stragglers now lot of the reports you hear on Livemap are false about ISIS as they already took out the column on the way to Mayadin in the south they are hunting them down. News sources just keep springing up

The SDF do lack insight and there is a strong possibility they may be on the losing side in history, judging by history it seems they are loathe to repeat their mistakes again.

Cheryl Brandon

KURD4=Greedy/deceitful/from behind Anatolia Mountains who have never ever lived in Northern Syria?/stealing and murdering for OIL and lands which is not their property! F..K Off .Northern is a area where Armenia lived! Dragging on the coat tails of fellow War Criminals like themselves.

Solomon Krupacek

and lost quayratayn :(

gustavo

Very soon a new pocket of terrorists will be created and destroyed. This is good news. Russia air support is fundamental to achieve this goal, and Russia has the capability to be everywhere at the same time with its air power.

Pál Póli

I wonder why don’t they close up that corridor and grind down that big pocket… or they want to allow the FSA to leave the pocket without fighting to shrink the frontline?

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

That region is sparsely populated with villages everywhere and few people it’s very dry in the region and defending it holds no value. no ones there but few thousand villagers and nobody touches them and they are neutral so best to paint them as happy people.
