After two days of clashes, the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces allegedly liberated the Western Bayarat village from ISIS in the province of Homs.
If confirmed, it will mean that government troops are now in about 23 km from the ISIS-held ancient city of Palmyra.
Forget Palmyra, they should focus on that road to Huwaysis (45) north of Tiyas, attack from the north as well (Soha), two pincer movements, encircle and destroy all ISIS forces there, and only then move on Palmyra. Otherwise they’ll have that ridiculous bulge again and flanks exposed to new ISIS attacks.
You could be right there + of course the 45 to move shipments more easily.
Who are the lot represented by green ?.
Green- other ‘rebel’ groups.
Cheers.
Agree with you regarding road 45. May be another option would be also important: Al-Busari crosroads, and then to east-north east to capture Palmira folowing two main roads.
