Supporters of the both sides of ongoing Aleppo battle kill hundreds of enemies and destroys dozens of units of military equipment …mostly in social media reports.
So how big are the sides’ casualties in reality?
The numbers below are based on the video and photo evidence and numbers confirmed by the both sides.
- Since the start of attempt to break the Aleppo siege, the Al-Nusra-led coalition, known in the mainstream media as Jaish al-Fatah, has lost about 70 fighters, 7 armored vehicles, 19 vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (including exploded), 7 ‘technical’ vehicles, 2 battle tanks and 2 artillery pieces.
- The Syrian government forces (including Hezbollah, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba and othe pro-government units) has lost about 25 fighters, 3 battle tanks, 2 ‘technical’ vehicles, 1 Shilka vehicle.
Jaish al-Fatah suffers more casualties because the militant coalition is attacking a militarized urban area, relying on VBIEDs as a main tool to break the government forces’ defenses. In turn, the Syrian army actively uses the advantage in artillery and air power.
