Legal status of 700 people from the towns of al-Meqlaibeh, al-Tibeh and al-Keswa was settled in accordance with the Amnesty Decree no.15 for 2016 in the framework of local reconciliations in the southern countryside of Damascus, the Sana news agency reported on Monday.

According to the news agency, about 150 militants, who laid down their arms and pledged not to take part in any acts that may harm the country’s security, were among those, who settled their legal status.

As Damascus Countryside Governor Alaa Ibrahim said in his statement to journalists, “the Governorate is working in coordination with concerned authorities” in order to implement local reconciliations “in all areas in preparation for the return of state institutions and locals, who were displaced from their homes due to terrorism to those areas.” He also stressed that very soon, there would be no weapons and militants in the countryside of Damascus.

At the same time, chairman of the City Council of al-Keswa, Abdul-Aziz al-Asfar, noted that on Monday, the first stage of settling of the status of wanted persons and militants was begun in the areas of al-Tibeh, al-Meqlaibeh and al-Keswa, as well as in affiliated towns of al-Thawra, al-Maaleh, al-Mara and Ayn al-Bida. He also added that as of Tuesday, all persons, who have gotten their legal status, are free to return to their normal lives.

As the news agency reported, citing an unnamed officer of the Syrian Army, as of today, a large number of various weapons, including grenade launchers, heavy machineguns, RPG launchers, machineguns, explosive devices of various sizes and weights, rifles, an explosive belt, an anti-tank missile, and hand grenades, have been returned during the local reconciliation process and settling the legal status of militants in the area of al-Keswa.

Oddly enough reports like these never get reported in the Western media. It would appear that these do not support the narrative of impending blood bath and doom if East Aleppo were to surrender.

Western media can’t report that Syrian Gov is reasonable. Hopefully Trump’s administration does a 180 & works with Assad
