On June 11, the al-Qaeda-affiliated Ansar al-Tawhid launched a heavy rocket, dubbed “Zilzal,” at a gathering of Syrian Arab Army troops near the town of Hizareen in the northwestern region of Greater Idlib.
The Zilazal is a makeshift rocket propelled by a number of Grad 122 mm boosters. According to opposition activists, the rocket weights 1,500 kilograms. Such DIY rockets are known for lacking accuracy. No human or material losses were reported.

The terrorist group said that the rocket attack was carried out in response to recent Syrian and Russian strikes on Greater Idlib.
The strikes killed three commanders of al-Qaeda’s Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), including the group’s spokesman Abu Khalid al-Shami, along with six militants.
Ansar al-Tawhid was not the only side to show solidarity with HTS. The Turkish military and its proxies also shelled government-held areas in the southern countryside of Idlib and the northwestern Hama countryside in response to killing of the terrorist group’s commander.
The situation in Greater Idlib may escalate even further in the upcoming few days. Nevertheless, a full-on military confrontation seems unlikely.

I think this is a warning shot. It appears to be the first instance where a 1500 kg rocket is launched by rebels. The next attack may use guided ones.
