On November 17, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out four airstrikes on the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib which is ruled by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and several other terrorist groups.
The airstrikes targeted positions in the outskirts of the town of Ablin in the southern countryside of Idlib. The Turkish military maintains a post near the town.

According to the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, HTS and its allies violated the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey last year, at least 12 times between November 15 and 16.
The Russian airstrikes on Ablin were likely a response to the recent ceasefire violations, all of which took place right under the eyes of Turkish troops in Greater Idlib.
In the last few months, Turkey reinforced its troops in the region like never before. The move was not meant to implement the ceasefire agreement, but rather to stop any possible ground operation by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies.
Now, the ceasefire in Greater Idlib is barely holding up. A military confrontation may soon break out in the region if the ceasefire was not reinforced.
Groups like HTS, Hamas, Taliban, Asaib ahl al Haq and Houthis should be defeated.
